How Do I Enable Total Connect 2.0 to work w/Google Home?

To enable Total Connect 2.0 with Google Home, open the Google Home app on your device. Click the Plus Symbol to add a new device. Select Works With Google then search for Total Connect 2.0. Select it, then enter your TC2 login credentials. Choose Allow, select Security System, then Connect.

The most important thing to remember here is that full Google Home integration is only supported on the new Pro Series panels. That means only the Honeywell Home PROA7, Honeywell Home PROA7PLUS, Resideo PROA7C, and Resideo PROA7PLUSC will support this setup. All panels that support total Connect 2.0 can support the Google Voice Commands feature, which is available from any Android phone. But when that option is used, the voice commands can only be initiated from the phone or tablet that is running the TC2 app. With full Google Home integration, voice commands can be given from any Google Home device connected to the user's account.

To enable Total Connect 2.0 and a Pro Series panel to work with Google Home, follow these steps:

  1. Open Google Home. Open the Google Home app from your phone or tablet. The Google Home app is available for both Android and iOS devices through their respective app stores.

  2. Click to Add. Click on the plus icon in the upper left to add a new device. Then click "Set up Device".

  3. Select "Works With Google". You'll see two (2) options, New Device or Works With Google. Select "Works With Google".

  4. Find Total Connect. At the top of the Linked Services and Add New Services list, click the Find icon and type in Total. You'll see several results. Select the option for Resideo Total Connect Security. For purposes of this FAQ, do not select either version of Honeywell's Total Connect Comfort (Intl. or US).

  5. Log Into Total Connect 2.0. After clicking on the option for Resideo Total Connect Security, you will be presented with a Total Connect 2.0 login screen. Login using the proper credentials for your Total Connect 2.0 account. Tap "Log In" once the credentials have been entered. On the next screen, click "Allow" to allow TC2 and Google to share necessary information.

  6. Select Devices to Use. Once you click "Allow", you will be taken to a screen where you enable/disable compatible Total Connect 2.0 devices to be connected with Google Home. Select all the devices associated with TC2 that you want to share, then tap "Connect". This will bring you back to the "Set Up a Device" screen you saw in Step 3 above. Click the Back Arrow at the top left, and do so again on the next page to return to the Home screen of the Google Home App.

  7. Associate TC2 with a Home. Once Total Connect 2.0 has been connected to Google Home, you need to tell Google to which location (Home) it should be associated. This is necessary in the event that a user may have access to more than one location within Google. From the main screen in Google Home, click on the tile that shows the Total Connect 2.0 location name, and that it is linked to you, but not yet associated to a Home within Google. It will have a Shield Icon.

On the next screen, click the option to "Add to a Home". You will be taken to a screen where all available Google Homes are shown, and where you can create a new Google Home if necessary.

Select an existing Google Home location, or click the + symbol to Add a new home. Once you've made your selection, click the "Next" button.

  8. Move device. Once you have either selected an existing location, or created a new one, choose the "Move Device" button.

After selecting the location, you will have the option of selecting an existing room, or creating a new one. Once you have done one or the other, click "Next". You'll see a summary screen showing your selections. A message will pop up to let you know your device has been moved. Click the back arrow in the upper left until you return to the main screen within Google Home.

  9. Update TC2 location name. If the TC2 location name is too similar to the Google Home name, or if you'd just like to edit the name, you can do so. On the final screen before you return to the Google Home page, click on the TC2 Location Name. Replace the current name with whatever name you choose. Save, then return to the Google Home page as you did in the previous step.
