How Do I Factory Reset the IQ Panel 5 to Default Settings?
To factory reset the IQ Panel 5, swipe down from the top of the screen and touch Settings, then touch Advanced Settings. Enter the Installer Code (1111 by default), navigate to Installation, then Dealer Settings, and select Master Reset to restore the panel to its factory defaults.
Before You Begin
The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) includes a Master Reset function that completely restores the panel to its out-of-the-box factory state. This erases everything on the system, including all enrolled security sensors, Z-Wave devices, Bluetooth pairings, WIFI credentials, user codes, Photo Frame images, and event history. Once the reset finishes, the panel reboots and launches the Setup Wizard exactly as it did the first time you powered it on.
A factory reset is the right choice when you are transferring ownership of the panel to a new homeowner, troubleshooting persistent software issues that a standard reboot has not fixed, or starting a brand-new installation from scratch. Because this action permanently deletes all programming, document your current sensor list, user codes, and home automation device settings before you begin. If your security system is monitored through Alarm.com, notify your monitoring provider before resetting so they can prepare for the panel to go offline and re-register it afterward.
You need the Installer Code (default 1111) or Dealer Code (default 2222) to access the Master Reset option. The Master Code (default 1234) does not have permission to perform this reset. Make sure the panel is disarmed and connected to AC power before starting.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Settings Tray. The Settings Tray slides down and reveals quick-access controls for volume, brightness, and other common settings. A Settings button appears at the bottom of the tray.
2. Touch SETTINGS at the bottom of the tray. The full Settings page opens, displaying options for Display, Temperature, Status, Automation, and more. The Advanced Settings button appears near the bottom of this screen.
3. Touch ADVANCED SETTINGS. A numeric keypad appears and prompts you to enter a valid access code. The code you enter determines which menus and features you can access inside Advanced Settings.
4. Enter the Installer Code (1111 by default) or the Dealer Code (2222 by default). The panel auto-advances after you enter the last digit. The Advanced Settings menu opens, showing options for Installation, User Management, About, System Tests, Panel Reboot, and more.
5. Touch INSTALLATION. The Installation menu opens and displays programming categories including Devices, Dealer Settings, System Logs, Siren and Alarms, Security/Arming, and Camera Settings.
6. Touch DEALER SETTINGS. The Dealer Settings page loads with a list of system-level options. Scroll down toward the bottom of the list to find Master Reset. You also see related options like Delete All Sensors, Delete All Z-Wave Devices, and Data Recycle on this page.
7. Select MASTER RESET and confirm the action when prompted. A confirmation dialog warns that this action restores factory settings and erases all content. Confirm to proceed. The panel erases all data, reboots, and automatically launches the Setup Wizard once the reset is complete. The entire process takes about two to three minutes.
What to Expect After the Reset
After the reset finishes, the IQ Panel 5 reboots and presents the Setup Wizard. This guided walkthrough steps you through reconnecting to WIFI, checking for software updates, and enrolling your sensors and Z-Wave devices from scratch. All user codes revert to their defaults: Master Code 1234, Installer Code 1111, and Dealer Code 2222. Any custom codes created before the reset are permanently deleted and need to be reprogrammed through the User Management menu.
If a full factory reset is more than you need, consider using the Data Recycle option instead. Data Recycle erases user-specific information like WIFI credentials, user codes, Photo Frame images, and panel event history, but it preserves your enrolled sensors and automation devices. This is a good choice when handing the panel to a new homeowner while keeping the existing sensor programming intact.
Tips
Keep the panel plugged into AC power throughout the entire reset process. Disconnecting power during a factory reset can cause data corruption or panel failure. If you plan to replace the backup battery, finish the reset first and let the panel complete the Setup Wizard before swapping the battery. Record your sensor DL ID codes, zone names, and sensor group assignments before running the Master Reset so you can reprogram sensors quickly once the panel is back up.
A factory reset restores your panel to its original state and erases all stored programming and user data on the IQ Panel 5.
