How Do I Find the Z-Wave Home ID of the IQ5 Hub System?
To find the Z-Wave Home ID of your IQ5 Hub, swipe down, touch Settings, touch Advanced Settings, enter your code, then touch About. Scroll to the Z-Wave section, where Home ID is the first item listed, above the Z-Wave Firmware Version. Checking it takes only a moment and changes nothing.
What the Z-Wave Home ID Is
The IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) lists a Home ID at the top of the Z-Wave section of the About page. In Z-Wave technology, the Home ID is the identifier of a Z-Wave network. The panel acts as the controller of your network, and every Z-Wave device you add to it, such as a light, lock, or thermostat, becomes part of that network and shares its Home ID.
You can think of it as the name tag of your Z-Wave network. Devices that carry the same Home ID belong to the same network, and devices that carry a different one belong somewhere else. This is the main reason the number is useful when you are checking which devices belong to your security system.
How to Find the Z-Wave Home ID
1. Swipe down from the top of the screen. This opens the Settings Tray with quick controls.

2. Touch Settings. This opens the main Settings page.
3. Touch Advanced Settings. This prompts you to enter a code before continuing.

4. Enter your code. The Installer Code, default 1111, the Master Code, default 1234, or the Dealer Code, default 2222, all provide access to the About page.
5. Touch About. This opens the system information page showing Battery, Software, Hardware, Patches, Cellular, Z-Wave, PowerG, Wi-Fi Information, and Internal Storage details.
6. Scroll down to the Z-Wave section. This section sits below the Cellular details and above the PowerG details.
7. Find Home ID at the top of the section. It is the first item listed, above the Z-Wave Firmware Version.
Why You Might Need the Home ID
Most homeowners never need to look this up, but a few situations make it handy. A support technician diagnosing a Z-Wave problem may ask for it so they can identify your network. An installer documenting a system for a future service call can record it alongside the device list. It also helps when you are trying to work out whether a used or previously installed Z-Wave device is still tied to an old network instead of yours.
The Other Fields in the Z-Wave Section
The Home ID is the first of several Z-Wave readings on the About page. Below it you will find the Z-Wave Firmware Version, API Version, Manufacturing ID, Product Type, Product ID, ZipGateway SDK Version, Region, and Frequency. Together they describe the Z-Wave hardware inside the panel, while the Home ID is the one that identifies your particular network rather than the hardware.
What Happens to the Home ID After a Z-Wave Reset
The Home ID belongs to the network the panel controls, so it is tied to the Z-Wave controller. The Delete All Z-Wave Devices option performs a factory reset on the Z-Wave controller, and the manual notes that it does not factory reset the devices that were previously included. A controller reset starts the network over, so the panel typically ends up with a new Home ID afterward. Devices that were included before the reset still hold the old network information, which means they must be removed or reset themselves before they can join again.
The same idea applies when you replace a panel with a new one. The new unit starts with its own network, so existing Z-Wave devices need to be excluded from the old network and added again before the new panel can control them.
If the Home ID Field Is Blank
If the Home ID field is empty or the Z-Wave section does not show any readings, run the Z-Wave Communication Test from the System Tests menu on the panel to confirm the panel can communicate with its Z-Wave radio. If the readings still do not appear after the test, contact Alarm Grid support so we can help determine whether the issue is with the Z-Wave radio itself.
Finding the Z-Wave Home ID on your IQ5 Hub takes only a few steps and helps you identify which devices belong to your Z-Wave network on the IQ5 Hub.
