How Do I Install a Honeywell IPCAM-PT2?

You can install a Honeywell IPCAM-PT2 by simply placing it on a sturdy desk or table. The camera can also be mounted to a wall or the ceiling using its included mounting plate. Once the IPCAM-PT2 camera has been installed, it must then be activated by the user's alarm monitoring company.

Please note that the IPCAM-PT2 is an older model, and its pan and tilt functions can no longer be done through Total Connect. The camera can still be used for capturing video indoors. It will need to have been online when Resideo pushed down a critical OTA firmware update to be used today. If you are looking for a new indoor camera, we recommend choosing the Lyric C1 or the Lyric C2 instead.

Complete the following steps to get started with using an IPCAM-PT2:

1. Install the camera. For an easy, tool-free installation, the IPCAM-PT2 can be rested on a steady table or desk. For a more involved installation, the camera can be mounted to a wall or ceiling. You may want to get the camera's 12-digit MAC code before installing the device.

To mount the camera, hold the mounting plate up to the wall, and mark the location of three holes that will be drilled. Carefully drill the holes into the wall using a powered drill. Then use screws to secure the mounting plate to the wall or ceiling. You can then slide the camera into the mounting plate. Make sure that it locks securely into place. A clicking sound will confirm this. Complete the installation by aligning the antenna.

2. Get the camera online. The IPCAM-PT2 can use WIFI or a hardwired ethernet connection. The process for getting a legacy Total Connect IP Camera online is outlined here. At this time, you can also power the camera on using its power cable.

3. Register the camera. Before the camera can be used, you must register the device with your alarm monitoring company. Call your monitoring company, and provide them with the MAC address for the device. This is a 12-digit code that is found on the back of the camera. Your alarm monitoring company will need this code to activate the device.

4. Test the camera. Access your Total Connect account and click on the "Cameras" section. Verify that the IPCAM-PT2 is displayed and that its live feed is visible.

Note: The Total Connect 2.0 Legacy IP Cameras like the IPCAM-PT2 can only be used if they were online at the time when Resideo pushed down an OTA update to make them compatible with an updated TC2 platform. Any legacy camera that was not online to receive this update can no longer be used. You must be very careful when purchasing used legacy TC2 IP Cameras, as many people will try to pass off bricked models on unsuspecting buyers. Please read this FAQ for more information.
