How Do I Pair A Phone for Bluetooth Disarming On The IQ5?

The IQ Panel 5 supports Bluetooth touchless disarming, which automatically disarms your system from Armed Away when your paired smartphone comes within range. You can pair up to five phones for this feature. This guide walks you through the complete Bluetooth phone pairing process.

Before You Begin

Make sure your smartphone has Bluetooth enabled and is in pairing mode before you start. The IQ Panel 5, available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE versions, uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.0 to detect when a paired phone is nearby. Touchless disarming only works when the panel is in an Armed Away state. You will need your Master Code (1234 by default) or Installer Code (1111 by default) to access Bluetooth settings. You can pair up to five smartphones, and each device is assigned to a single partition if security system partitions are enabled on your panel.

Pairing Your Phone

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the settings tray. The tray slides down showing volume, brightness controls, and the SETTINGS icon.
2. Touch SETTINGS. The Settings page appears with options for connections, display, and system features.
3. Touch ADVANCED SETTINGS. A keypad appears prompting you for an access code.
4. Enter your Master Code (1234 by default) or Installer Code (1111 by default). The panel auto-advances and opens the Advanced Settings menu.
5. Touch BLUETOOTH DEVICES. The Bluetooth page opens showing any currently paired devices and options to add or remove devices.
6. Put your smartphone in Bluetooth pairing mode. On most phones, open Settings, then Bluetooth, and make sure your device is discoverable.
7. Touch ADD DEVICE on the panel. The IQ Panel 5 begins scanning for nearby Bluetooth devices. This search can take up to 60 seconds.
8. Select your smartphone from the list of discovered devices.
9. Touch Pair on the panel. A confirmation prompt appears on both the IQ Panel 5 and your phone, each displaying a numeric code.
10. Verify the codes match on both devices, then touch Pair on each. Your phone appears in the Paired Devices list. Your phone may show the panel as "Not Connected," which is normal.

Tips

The Bluetooth Disarm Timeout setting controls how long the panel waits after being armed to Armed Away before it allows a Bluetooth device to disarm it. The default is 10 minutes, but you can choose 1, 5, 10, 20, or 30 minutes. This prevents the panel from immediately disarming after you arm it and walk away. You can adjust this setting under Bluetooth Devices by selecting Settings. If you use monitoring services with your panel, Bluetooth touchless disarming works alongside your Alarm.com app for convenient remote access and control.

To manage paired devices later, return to Bluetooth Devices from Advanced Settings. From there, you can edit device permissions, change partition assignments, delete individual devices, or remove all paired devices at once. Each paired device can only be assigned to one partition at a time.
