How Do I Run a Panel Glass Break Test on the IQ Panel 5?
To run a Panel Glass Break Test on the IQ Panel 5, go to Advanced Settings, enter the Installer Code, touch System Tests, then touch Panel Glass Break Test. Touch Run for the Clap Test, then use a glass break simulator and watch the circle turn green. Reset clears the circle for another try.
What the Panel Glass Break Test Does
The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) includes built-in glass break detection that uses the panel's own microphones. The Panel Glass Break Test lets you confirm that those microphones and the detector respond the way they should. The test screen has three parts: a Clap Test, a Glass Break Simulator Test, and a Glass Break Alarm Test Mode.
Running the test after installation, and again any time you move the panel or change its surroundings, is a simple way to confirm your security system will react to breaking glass.
Before You Start
Panel Glass Break must be enabled under Installer Settings before this test appears. If the test is missing from the System Tests list, turn the detector on first. You will also need a glass break simulator for the second and third parts of the test.
The Glass Break Alarm Test Mode sends an alarm to the central station. Contact your monitoring provider before you use it so the alarm is not treated as a real emergency.
How to Open the Panel Glass Break Test
1. Swipe down from the top of the screen. This opens the Settings Tray with quick controls.

6. Touch Panel Glass Break Test. This opens the Panel Glass Break Test screen, which has three parts: Clap Test, Glass Break Simulator Test, and Glass Break Alarm Test Mode.
How to Run the Clap Test
1. Touch Run next to Clap Test. The panel's microphones start listening.

2. Clap near the panel. Use a firm, sharp clap close to the front of the panel.
3. Watch the circle on the right. The circle turns yellow when the glass break detector is listening and noise is detected.
How to Run the Glass Break Simulator Test
1. Hold a glass break simulator near the panel. Use a simulator made for testing glass break detectors.
2. Trigger the simulator. The circle turns green when the panel hears the proper glass break frequency.
3. Touch Reset to run the check again. Reset clears the circle so you can repeat the test.
How to Run the Glass Break Alarm Test Mode
1. Contact your monitoring provider. This mode sends a real alarm signal, so let your provider know before you begin.
2. Touch Start next to Glass Break Alarm Test Mode. A set of instructions appears.

3. Read the instructions and touch OK. The glass break detector goes into a 15 minute test mode.
4. Arm the panel in Arm Away. Test mode only responds to the simulator when the panel is armed Away.
5. Activate the simulator at the glass. Hold the simulator where the glass you want to protect is located.
6. Confirm the panel goes into alarm. The panel sends a signal to your monitoring center.
7. Disarm the panel and let test mode end. The panel leaves test mode after the 15 minute period and returns to normal.
What the Circle Colors Mean
The circle on the test screen gives you the result. Yellow means a clap was detected and the microphones are listening. Green means the panel heard the proper glass break frequency. If the circle stays as it is after a clap or a simulator trigger, the panel did not detect the sound, and you should repeat the test closer to the panel.
If the Test Does Not Appear
If Panel Glass Break Test is not in the System Tests list, the detector is turned off. Go to Advanced Settings, enter the Installer Code, touch Installation, then touch Installer Settings, and turn on the Panel Glass Break Detector. Return to System Tests and the test appears.
If the Circle Does Not Change
If the circle does not turn yellow after a clap, confirm the panel is not covered or blocked and try again with a louder clap closer to the front of the panel. If it does not turn green with the simulator, make sure the simulator is made for glass break detectors and is working. If the results are still wrong, contact Alarm Grid support so we can help.
