How Do I Set the Long Entry Delay on the IQ5 NS?
To set the Long Entry Delay on the IQ5 NS, open the IQ Installer app, touch Config, then Installation and Security and Arming, and set the delay between 45 and 240 seconds. The default is 100 seconds, and sensors in Group 12 use the long delays. It is not for use with EN Grade 2.
What the Long Entry Delay Is
The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) has two entry delays. The Normal Entry Delay is the one most doors use. The Long Entry Delay is a second, separate entry delay for a sensor that needs more time when it is tripped. It is 100 seconds by default, and you can set it anywhere from 45 to 240 seconds.
The entry delay is the time you have to disarm the system after you open an entry door, before the alarm sounds. A longer delay gives you more time to reach the keypad or the system and enter your code.
When You Would Use It
Use the Long Entry Delay for a door that sits far from where you disarm the system, such as a garage entry or a back door at the end of a long hallway. The normal delay can be too short for that walk. Giving that one door a longer delay keeps your other doors on the shorter, more secure delay.
Before You Start
You need the IQ Installer app connected to the system, and the Installer Code or Dealer Code. The range is 45 to 240 seconds. With SIA limits disabled, the minimum can be set as low as 5 seconds. The manual notes that the Long Entry Delay is not for use with EN Grade 2.
How to Set the Long Entry Delay
1. Open the IQ Installer app and connect to the panel. Press the power button twice within 3 seconds and wait for the solid blue Status LED.
2. Enter the Installer Code or Dealer Code. The default Installer Code is 1111 and the default Dealer Code is 2222.
3. Touch the Config tab, then touch Installation. This opens the Installation menu.
4. Touch Security and Arming. Security and Arming is the lock icon in the Installation menu.

5. Find Long Entry Delay. The default is 100 seconds.
6. Set the delay between 45 and 240 seconds. A higher number gives a Group 12 sensor more time to disarm after it is tripped.
Assigning a Sensor to the Long Delays
Setting the delay does not change any door by itself. A sensor has to use it. Door and window sensors in sensor Group 12, Entry-Exit Long Delay, are the ones that follow the long delays. To move a door to the long delay, edit that sensor and set its Sensor Group to Group 12. Keep your main entry doors on Group 10, the normal delay, so only the doors that need extra time get it. Your security system then gives each door the time it needs.
What Happens During the Delay
When a sensor on the long delay is tripped while the system is armed, the entry countdown starts and the system waits for a valid user code. Disarm before the delay ends and no alarm sounds. If the delay runs out, the system goes into alarm. Set the delay long enough for you to reach the system comfortably, but not so long that it weakens your protection.
Related Delay Settings
The same Security and Arming menu holds the matching exit setting. Long Exit Delay is 120 seconds by default and can be set from 45 to 254 seconds, and Group 12 sensors follow it. The Settle Delay Timer adds a programmable delay of 0 to 10 seconds, 10 by default, before the motion detectors turn on after the exit delay expires. Each setting has its own value, and changing one does not affect the others.
How to Return to the Default
To go back to the default, repeat the same steps and set the Long Entry Delay to 100 seconds. The system then gives a Group 12 sensor the same delay it had before you made the change.
For complete protection, consider adding professional monitoring and home automation devices to your system.
