How Do I Set Up the IQ5 Hub Out of the Box to Arm and Disarm?

To set up the IQ5 Hub out of the box, plug in the backup battery, plug the barrel connector into the back of the panel, then hold the power button for 3 seconds. Run the Setup Wizard, then touch the green lock icon to arm in Stay mode and touch the lock icon again to disarm with your code.

What This Article Covers

The IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) is ready to use for everyday arming and disarming as soon as it is powered on and the Setup Wizard is done. This article covers only that: powering the panel on, getting through the Setup Wizard, and arming and disarming for the first time. Activating monitoring service and enrolling sensors are separate tasks that are covered in their own articles.

Have the included 12V DC power supply ready, and place the panel near an outlet. The power supply must be in the same room as the panel, and the outlet should be on a circuit that cannot be switched off, since the panel protects your security system around the clock.

How to Power On the IQ5 Hub

1. Plug in the backup battery. The battery is already placed in the panel, but it still needs to be plugged in. Connect the battery connector before you connect power.

2. Plug the barrel connector into the back of the panel. Use only the power supply that came with the panel, and connect its standard barrel connector to the back of the panel. Keep the power supply in the same room as the panel.

3. Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The power button is on the right side of the panel. Hold it until the panel starts up.

How to Get Through the Setup Wizard

1. Wait for the Welcome screen. After startup, the panel shows a Welcome screen that invites you to use the easy installation wizard and reminds you to make sure the panel is plugged in.

2. Touch Start. The Setup Wizard begins.

3. Follow the prompts on each page. The wizard moves through WIFI, a system check, a software update check, smart devices, and a sensor search. Complete the pages that apply to you. Enrolling sensors and smart devices is covered in separate articles.

How to Arm in Stay Mode

1. Touch the green lock icon. The green lock icon on the home screen means the panel is disarmed. Touching it opens the arming screen with the Arm Stay and Arm Away options.

2. Touch Arm Stay. By default the panel arms right away with no exit countdown. If Secure Arming is turned on, enter a valid user code first.

3. Confirm the lock icon turns orange. An orange lock icon confirms the panel is armed in Stay mode.

How to Arm in Away Mode

1. Touch the green lock icon. This opens the arming screen.

2. Touch Arm Away. The exit countdown begins.

3. Leave before the countdown ends. Exit through a door while the countdown runs. The panel arms when the countdown finishes.

How to Disarm

1. Touch the lock icon. When the panel is armed, the lock icon is orange or red. Touching it opens the code entry screen.

2. Enter a valid user code. The default Master Code is 1234 unless it has been changed. The panel disarms and the lock icon returns to green.

Which Arming Mode to Use

Use Stay mode when someone is home. It arms the doors and windows and leaves the interior motion sensors off, so you can move around freely. Use Away mode when everyone is leaving, because it arms the interior motion sensors as well. A new panel with no sensors enrolled has little to protect yet, so the arming steps are most useful once your door, window, and motion sensors have been added.

Default Codes to Know

Three default codes come with a new panel. The Master Code is 1234 and is the code you use to arm and disarm and to manage users. The Installer Code is 1111 and is used for advanced settings, and the Dealer Code is 2222. Once the system is running, change the Master Code and the Installer Code to codes only you know, and keep the new codes somewhere safe so you can find them later.

If You Need to Run the Setup Wizard Again

The Setup Wizard can be started again at any time. Swipe down from the top of the screen, touch Settings, touch Advanced Settings, and enter the Installer Code, which is 1111 by default. Then touch Setup Wizard and touch Launch Wizard.

Powering on your IQ5 Hub, running the Setup Wizard, and arming and disarming for the first time takes only a few minutes on the IQ5 Hub.
