How Do I Turn Off Alarm Photos on the IQ5 Hub Security System?
The IQ5 Hub does not have an Alarm Photos setting, because its manual lists no built-in camera or Camera Settings menu. Alarm Photos is a Camera Settings option on the IQ Panel 5, so there is nothing to turn off on the IQ5 Hub. The IQ Panel 5 includes both the camera and the setting.
Does the IQ5 Hub Have Alarm Photos
The IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) does not have an Alarm Photos setting. On the IQ Panel 5, Alarm Photos is an option in Camera Settings that controls whether the built-in camera takes a photo during an alarm event. The IQ5 Hub manual has no Camera Settings menu, and its spec sheet lists no built-in camera.
This means there is nothing to turn off on the panel. It does not take photos during an alarm event.
What Alarm Photos Does on the IQ Panel 5
On the IQ Panel 5, Alarm Photos is enabled by default. The built-in camera takes a single photograph during an alarm event, and the setting sits in Camera Settings with Disarm Photos, Alarm Videos, and the options that control who can delete photos. A master camera setting turns all of these off at once.
If You Want Photos During Alarms
If photos during alarms and disarms matter to you, the IQ Panel 5 includes the built-in camera and the Camera Settings menu. All Qolsys panels in this family share the same core security system features, so the choice comes down to whether you want the camera and the display that comes with it.
How the Panels Differ
The IQ Panel 5 is an all-in-one panel with a built-in camera, while the IQ5 Hub leaves the camera out. For most households that is an easy tradeoff, and the core detection, arming, and reporting work the same way. For a property where a photo of the person at the panel is important, the camera is worth having.
Planning Your Setup
Decide before you buy whether you want photo features, since a camera cannot be added to a panel that does not have one. If you already own the IQ5 Hub, you can still protect your property with door and window sensors and monitoring, and you can pair it with home automation devices to build out the rest of the system.
What Is in the Camera Settings Menu
The Camera Settings menu on the IQ Panel 5 holds seven settings. Secure Delete Images is enabled by default and requires a Master Code to delete disarm and alarm photos. Secure Delete Images by User Code is disabled by default and lets a User Code delete them when enabled. Panel Camera is the master switch and is enabled by default. Disarm Photos, Alarm Photos, and Alarm Videos are each enabled by default. Alarm Videos records a clip for 4 minutes during an alarm. The seventh option lets the Master Code access the Camera Settings menu.
Why Photo Features Are Not Part of This Model
Photo and video features depend on hardware inside the panel. The IQ Panel 5 has a built-in camera, so it has settings to control what the camera captures. A panel without a camera has nothing to capture and no menu to manage it, so the menu is simply not part of that model. This is a hardware difference and not a missing setting you can turn on.
Related Settings Elsewhere in the Menu
Because the IQ5 Hub has no Camera Settings menu, settings such as Disarm Photos, Alarm Videos, and Secure Delete Images are also not part of this model. The manual for the IQ5 Hub lists its own installer menus, and none of them include a camera option.
The IQ5 Hub does not have Alarm Photos, but the IQ Panel 5 includes a built-in camera with a Camera Settings menu on the IQ5 Hub.
