How Do I Turn Off Sensor Tamper Beeps on the IQ5 NS?
To turn off Sensor Tamper Beeps on the IQ5 NS, open the IQ Installer app, touch Config, then Sound, find Trouble Beeps, and turn off Sensor Tamper Beeps. The setting is disabled by default, and EN Grade 2 installations need it enabled. The setting controls only the sound the system makes.
What Sensor Tamper Beeps Are
The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) can sound a beep when a sensor is tampered. That is the Sensor Tamper Beeps setting, in the Trouble Beeps section of the Sound menu. When it is enabled, the system sounds when a sensor is tampered, using the chime type and frequency you set for trouble beeps.
The setting controls only the sound. It decides whether the system beeps for a sensor tamper, and it does not change how the sensor itself works.
The Default Setting
Sensor Tamper Beeps is disabled by default, and so are all the other trouble beeps. If your system is beeping for a sensor tamper, the setting was turned on, or the system is set up for EN Grade 2, where the manual says to set Sensor Tamper Beeps to Enabled. Turning it off applies when you want the system to stay quiet while your security system still watches the sensors.
Before You Start
You need the IQ Installer app connected to the system, and the Installer Code or Dealer Code. Check whether the system must meet EN Grade 2 before you turn the setting off, since the manual says to enable it for those installations.
How to Turn Off Sensor Tamper Beeps
1. Open the IQ Installer app and connect to the panel. Press the power button twice within 3 seconds and wait for the solid blue Status LED.
2. Enter the Installer Code or Dealer Code. The default Installer Code is 1111 and the default Dealer Code is 2222.
3. Touch the Config tab, then touch Sound. Sound is one of the Configuration menu buttons.

4. Find the Trouble Beeps section. It is below the voice and chime settings.
5. Turn off Sensor Tamper Beeps. It is disabled by default. Turn it off if it was enabled.
What Changes After You Turn It Off
The system no longer sounds when a sensor is tampered. Other trouble beeps keep their own settings, so a low battery beep or a panel tamper beep still follows its own switch. The sensor is not affected, because the setting controls only what the system sounds.
Related Trouble Beep Settings
The Trouble Beeps section of the Sound menu has several related settings. Trouble Beeps is the master switch that toggles all sensor and panel trouble beeps on or off. PowerG Siren Trouble Beeps and RF Jam Trouble Beeps decide whether those conditions sound beeps. Sensor Low Battery and Panel Tamper Beeps work like Sensor Tamper Beeps for their own conditions, and Edit Trouble Beep Chimes sets the chime type for all three. Each of these is disabled by default.
Trouble Beeps Timeout sets the time between each trouble beep, from 3 to 60 minutes, with 30 minutes as the default. Fire and Life Safety Device Trouble Beeps is enabled by default, so the system still sounds a trouble alert when a fire safety device is tampered, failed, or has a low battery.
If You Need EN Grade 2
For EN Grade 2 installations, the manual says to set Sensor Tamper Beeps to Enabled, so do not turn it off on a system that must meet that standard. Keep it on for those installations, and turn it off only when your system does not need to meet it.
How to Turn Sensor Tamper Beeps Back On
To turn the beeps back on, repeat the same steps and switch Sensor Tamper Beeps on again. The system then sounds when a sensor is tampered, with the chime type you selected.
For complete protection, consider adding professional monitoring and home automation devices to your system.
Turning off Sensor Tamper Beeps on your IQ5 NS stops the system from sounding when a sensor is tampered on the IQ5 NS.
