How Do I Turn On Indoor Temperature Reporting on the IQ5 Hub?

To turn on Indoor Temperature Reporting on the IQ5 Hub, go to Advanced Settings, enter the Installer Code, touch Installation, then Installer/Dealer Settings. Turn on Temperature Reporting for PowerG, then choose your indoor sensor. The temperature then appears on the home screen.

What Indoor Temperature Reporting Does

The IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) can show the temperature from a PowerG sensor on its home screen. Indoor Temperature Reporting lets you pick which sensor supplies the indoor reading, and the panel then displays the temperature that sensor measures. A companion setting, Outdoor Temperature Reporting, does the same for an outdoor sensor.

The readings come from IQ5 Hub sensors that can measure temperature, not from the panel itself, so you need a compatible sensor enrolled before you can use the feature.

Before You Start

Enroll a PowerG sensor that supports temperature measurement and place it in the room you want to monitor. You need the Installer Code, which is 1111 by default, or the Dealer Code, 2222. The two temperature reporting options are greyed out unless Temperature Reporting for PowerG is enabled, so that switch always comes first.

How to Turn On Indoor Temperature Reporting

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen. This opens the Settings Tray with quick controls.

2. Touch Settings. This opens the main Settings page.

3. Touch Advanced Settings. This prompts you to enter a code before continuing.

4. Enter the Installer Code. The default Installer Code is 1111. The Dealer Code, 2222, also works. The panel opens the Installer menu as soon as the code is entered.

5. Touch Installation. This opens the Installation menu.

6. Touch Installer/Dealer Settings. This opens the list of installer settings.

7. Turn on Temperature Reporting for PowerG. It is disabled by default. Indoor Temperature Reporting stays greyed out until this setting is enabled.

8. Touch Indoor Temperature Reporting. Indoor Temperature Reporting is disabled by default and shows a list of devices.

9. Select the PowerG sensor that measures the room. The temperature from that sensor then appears on the home screen.

How to Add an Outdoor Reading

Outdoor Temperature Reporting works the same way. With Temperature Reporting for PowerG enabled, touch Outdoor Temperature Reporting and select the PowerG sensor that measures outside. Both readings can show on the home screen of the panel together.

Which Sensors Work

Only PowerG devices that support temperature measurement can report a temperature to the panel. The PowerG Temp Sensor PGx905 is one example, and it uses its own sensor groups for temperature monitoring. If a sensor does not appear in the list, it does not report temperature, or it has not been enrolled yet.

Where the Temperature Appears

The reading appears on the home screen of the panel. Whether it shows in Fahrenheit or Celsius depends on the temperature unit setting, which you can change separately in the panel's settings.

If the Option Is Greyed Out

If Indoor Temperature Reporting is greyed out, Temperature Reporting for PowerG is still disabled. Turn that setting on first, then return to Indoor Temperature Reporting and choose a sensor. The same rule applies to Outdoor Temperature Reporting.

Why Use Temperature Reporting

A temperature on the home screen gives you a quick read of a room without opening an app. It is useful for a room that runs hot or cold, such as a basement, a garage, or a nursery. Because the reading comes from a sensor you place, you can choose the spot that matters most and see it every time you look at the panel.

Checking the Reading

After you select the sensor, return to the home screen of the panel and look for the temperature. Give the sensor a moment to report, since it sends readings on its own schedule. If nothing appears, confirm the sensor is enrolled, in range, and the one you selected in the list.

How to Turn It Off

To stop showing the temperature, turn Temperature Reporting for PowerG back to disabled. The two reporting options become greyed out again, and the readings no longer appear on the panel's home screen. The sensors themselves stay enrolled and keep working.

Turning on Indoor Temperature Reporting on your IQ5 Hub shows a PowerG sensor's temperature on the home screen on the IQ5 Hub.
