Keyfob Instant Arming changes this specifically for keyfob use: when enabled, arming the system with a keyfob skips the exit delay entirely and arms the panel immediately, with no countdown at all.

This only affects arming triggered by a keyfob. Arming from the touchscreen or through the Alarm.com app still follows the normal exit delay timer regardless of how this setting is configured. The logic behind it is straightforward: if you're using a keyfob to arm, you're typically already leaving through the door, in your car, or otherwise on your way out, so there's less need for a countdown built for someone still walking through the house.

How to Turn On Keyfob Instant Arming

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen. This opens the Settings Tray with quick controls.

2. Touch Settings. This opens the main Settings page.

3. Touch Advanced Settings. This prompts you to enter a code before continuing.

4. Enter the Installer Code. The default Installer Code is 1111, though your account admin may have changed it to something else, like 2222.

5. Touch Installation. This opens the Installation menu, which lists Devices, Installer Settings, System Logs, Sirens and Alarms, Security and Arming, and Camera Settings.

6. Touch Security and Arming. This menu holds all the arming behavior toggles, including Keyfob Disarming, Keyfob Instant Arming, Keyfob Alarm Disarm, and Arm Stay - No Delay.

7. Find Keyfob Instant Arming in the list. This setting is enabled by default, so it's usually already on unless it was previously turned off.

8. Turn on the toggle if it isn't already on. Once enabled, arming with a keyfob skips the exit delay countdown entirely.

Why You Might Turn This Off Instead

Since this setting is enabled out of the box, some homeowners come across it looking to turn it off rather than on, usually after realizing a keyfob armed the system faster than expected and someone was still inside. How This Interacts With Other Delay Settings

Keyfob Instant Arming overrides both the standard Exit Delay and the Long Exit Delay timer when a keyfob is used, since instant arming means no delay applies at all regardless of which timer a given sensor would otherwise use. It does not affect Entry Delay, so disarming after arming with a keyfob still follows the normal entry delay countdown when you come back in through a monitored door. It also doesn't interact with Auto Exit Time Extension, since that setting only matters when an exit delay is actively running, and instant arming skips that countdown entirely.

If Instant Arming Isn't Working as Expected

If arming with a keyfob still shows a countdown after confirming this setting is on, double check that the keyfob itself is properly enrolled and its arm button is mapped correctly, since a misconfigured keyfob can behave inconsistently regardless of this toggle. If only some keyfobs skip the delay while others don't, compare how each one was originally paired, since keyfobs enrolled at different times or with different firmware can occasionally behave slightly differently until re-paired.

A Good Habit Once Instant Arming Is On

Since instant arming removes the countdown window entirely, it's worth building a simple household habit around it: press the keyfob's arm button only once you're actually stepping outside or closing the door behind you, not while still gathering keys, shoes, or a bag inside the house. This matters more here than with standard arming, since there's no beeping countdown to serve as a reminder that time is running out before perimeter sensors activate. Households with kids or guests who might not know this setting is active should be told explicitly, since a keyfob press followed by an immediately armed door sensor can catch someone off guard the first time it happens.
