How Do I Use the Activity Monitor on the IQ Panel 5 System?

To use the Activity Monitor on the IQ Panel 5, swipe down, touch Settings, and touch Activity Monitor. Choose Quick Access for 300 seconds of temporary access to 24 hour sensors, or Deactivate to disarm them until you re-activate them manually. A Master, User, or Guest code is required.

What the Activity Monitor Is

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) includes an Activity Monitor on the Settings page. It gives you access to disarm sensors that are programmed as 24 hour zones, such as sensor groups 8, 9, and 25. These sensors stay active whether the panel is armed or disarmed, so the Activity Monitor is the way to pause them without affecting the rest of your security system.

A valid Master, User, or Guest code is required to control the 24 hour activity sensors, so only people with a user code on the panel can use it.

Which Sensors It Controls

The three sensor groups the manual names behave differently. Group 25, Local Safety Sensor, does not report or trigger an alarm. It is a chime only sensor while activity monitoring is active, regardless of panel status, and it is used for medicine cabinets, chemical storage, and similar spots. Group 8, Reporting Safety Sensor, reports to the central station and triggers an alarm while activity monitoring is active. Group 9, Delayed Reporting Safety Sensor, works like group 8 but has an entry delay.

Group 25 also exists for motion sensors, where it is used for places such as medicine cabinets, storage, and activity tracking. In both cases the sensor does not send an alarm, and it simply chimes.

How to Use the Activity Monitor

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen. This opens the Settings Tray with quick controls.

4. Choose Quick Access or Deactivate. Quick Access gives you 300 seconds of temporary access. Deactivate disarms the 24 hour sensors until you re-activate them manually.

5. Enter a valid Master, User, or Guest code when the panel asks for it. The panel requires one of these codes to control the 24 hour activity sensors.

Quick Access vs. Deactivate

Quick Access gives you 300 seconds of temporary access. It is the right choice when you only need a moment, such as opening a medicine cabinet or a storage closet that has a safety sensor on it, without the sensor chiming or reporting.

Deactivate disarms the 24 hour sensors until they are re-activated manually. It stays off until someone turns it back on, so it suits a longer task. Because group 8 and group 9 sensors normally report to your monitoring center, a deactivated sensor will not alarm while it is off, so re-activate it as soon as you are finished.

A Related Voice Setting

The Sound menu has a separate Activity Monitoring voices setting. It turns the panel's spoken activity messages on or off and is enabled by default. It does not change which sensors are armed, only whether the panel speaks when an activity sensor is involved.

When You Would Use It

The most common reason is a caregiver or family member who needs regular access to something a 24 hour sensor protects, such as a medicine cabinet. A short Quick Access is enough for a quick visit, and Deactivate covers longer jobs like reorganizing storage or cleaning around a protected area. Using the monitor keeps the sensor from chiming or alarming without disarming the entire system. Whichever option you choose, return to normal protection when the task is done so the safety sensor is working again for the next time someone opens that cabinet or storage area.

Other Pages That Look Similar

The Activity Monitor is separate from the Wellness page, which a dealer can enable to provide access to wellness-related devices and activity monitoring. It is also separate from the Status page, which lists sensor readings. If you cannot find the Activity Monitor button, confirm you are on the Settings page and not inside Advanced Settings.

The Activity Monitor on your IQ Panel 5 lets you pause 24 hour safety sensors for a moment or until you turn them back on on the IQ Panel 5.
