How Do I View Devices Connected to the IQ Panel 5 Access Point?

To view the devices connected to the IQ Panel 5 access point, go to Advanced Settings, enter the Installer Code, then touch Installation, Devices, WIFI Devices, and AP Connected Devices. The page lists each connected device with its IP address, MAC address, and how long it has been connected.

What the AP Connected Devices Page Shows

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) has a built-in router that other devices can join over WIFI. The AP Connected Devices page shows every WIFI client currently connected to that router. For each device, it lists the IP address, the MAC address, and how long the device has been connected.

The page is a read-only view. It tells you who is on the panel's access point right now, and it does not change any settings.

Why You Would Check This Page

The list answers three questions quickly. Is the device you just set up actually connected to the panel, what is its MAC address, and how long has it been connected. Installers use the MAC address to identify a device when they are troubleshooting, and homeowners use the list to confirm that only their own devices are on the access point. Knowing what is connected is part of keeping your security system secure.

Before You Start

You need the Installer Code, which is 1111 by default, or the Dealer Code, 2222. The access point must also be turned on, since a disabled access point has no clients to list. Devices that typically join the panel's access point include IQ Remote secondary displays, which can connect to your home network or to the panel's built-in access point, and a phone running the IQ Installer app for local programming.

How to View Devices Connected to the Access Point

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen. This opens the Settings Tray with quick controls.

2. Touch Settings. This opens the main Settings page.

3. Touch Advanced Settings. This prompts you to enter a code before continuing.

4. Enter the Installer Code. The default Installer Code is 1111. The Dealer Code, 2222, also works. The panel opens the Installer menu as soon as the code is entered.

5. Touch Installation. This opens the Installation menu.

6. Touch Devices. Devices is the first button in the Installation menu.

7. Touch WIFI Devices. WIFI Devices is the second button in the Devices menu, next to Security Sensors.

8. Touch AP Connected Devices. The page opens and lists every device connected to the access point.

How to Read the List

Each row is one connected device. The IP address is the address the access point gave the device when it joined. The MAC address is the device's own hardware identifier, which you can match against the label on the device or in your router and support records. The connected duration shows how long the device has stayed connected, so a device that reconnects often will show a short duration.

If the List Is Empty

An empty list means no device is currently connected to the access point. First confirm the access point is enabled. Open the Access Point Settings page in the same WIFI Devices menu and check that WIFI Access Point is turned on. Then confirm the device is joining the right network, since the SSID name appears on that page. If the device still does not join, run through the password and try again, or use WPS to connect it.

If You See a Device You Do Not Recognize

If the list shows a device you do not recognize, note its MAC address and change the access point password so only devices with the new password can join. The Change Password option is on the Access Point Settings page, and the same page shows the current password. Choose a password that is long and hard to guess, and update the devices that you do want connected.

Access Point Settings You Can Change

The WIFI Devices menu has a companion page, Access Point Settings, that configures the panel's built-in router. It lets you enable or disable the access point, change the SSID name, and broadcast or hide the SSID. It also has a DHCP IP Range setting, which is 50 by default, a Change Password option, an Activate WPS option for connecting devices with a push button, and a field that shows the access point password in use.

Keeping the Access Point Secure

The access point is a convenience for local setup, so only the devices that need it should stay connected. Review the list after you install or replace equipment, and change the password if the people with access to the panel change. If you use the panel with home automation devices, keep a record of the devices you expect to see so an unfamiliar one stands out.
