Is the Peek-In Feature On Alarm.com Supported With the DSC PG9934P?

Yes, the Peek-In feature on Alarm.com is supported with the DSC PG9934P. You can use the Peek-In Now feature to request an image from the PG9934P. This is nice for quickly checking-in on your home or office. The Peak-In Now feature can be activated from the Alarm.com website or mobile app.

The DSC PG9934P is a PowerG Image Sensor that is used with security systems that support PowerG. It basically combines a motion detection sensor with a still-image camera. If the PG9934P triggers an alarm on the system as a motion sensor, then it will take a photo and send it to Alarm.com, assuming that the system is monitored and set up with the Alarm.com service. The user can check this photo to determine if the alarm was legitimate or false.

But if a user wants to manually request a photo at any time, then they can use the Peek-In Now feature on Alarm.com. Once the feature is activated, the PG9934P will take a photo and send it to Alarm.com. From there, Alarm.com will send the photo via text and/or email to all listed recipients. You must configure the recipient list from the Alarm.com website so that the proper parties receive the requested image. To do this, login to your Alarm.com account using a compatible web browser, then choose Automation, and select the Rules option at top. Scroll down to Peek-Ins & Manual Image Uploads, and then press the pencil icon next to it. Scroll down to the Recipients section, and choose the blue +Add button. A pop-up window will appear so that you add recipients. You can choose from existing recipients and also add new recipients if needed. After you select the recipients, press the Close button to exit the pop-up window. You will be able to view on the added recipients for receiving the Peek-In photos. Once you have confirmed that everything is correct, press the blue Save button to finish.

It is important to note that you can only use the Peek-In Now feature with the DSC PG9934P. You cannot use the Peek-In Next Motion. The difference between the two is that Peek-In Now requests an image right away, while Peek-In Next Motion waits until the image sensor device detects movement to take the photo. When we discuss the Peek-In feature for the PG9934P, we are almost always referring to the Peak-In Now feature, unless specified otherwise.

There are some requirements and compatibility concerns to keep in mind if you are using the PG9934P with the Alarm.com Peek-In feature. You will also need to have the Images - Plus Service Package applied to your Alarm.com account. Only your monitoring company can apply the service package. Reach out to your monitoring provider, and ask them to apply the service to your account if they haven't already. Alarm Grid monitored customers can email us at support@alarmgrid.com for this task. Lastly, remember that all Peek-In photos will count towards your Alarm.com Image Sensor Upload Limits. If you reach your monthly limit, then no new Peek-In photos can be requested.
