What Is the Difference Between Total Connect Comfort and Total Connect 2.0?

The difference between Total Connect Comfort (TCC) and Total Connect 2.0 (TC2) is that TCC is just for certain Honeywell WIFI Thermostats, while TC2 is for a much larger selection of products. Most TCC devices can be integrated into TC2. Also, TC2 is generally associated with alarm systems.

Honeywell VisionPRO WIFI 7-Day Programmable Thermostat:

Total Connect Comfort is a smart platform designed for various smart thermostats. The platform is for various Honeywell WIFI Thermostats. Users can access the TCC platform from a mobile app on their smartphones. By accessing the platform, a user can increase or decrease the temperature as needed and set heating and cooling schedules. The platform is still used with compatible thermostats, but it is relatively limited in nature. Some examples of Honeywell Thermostats that are used with TCC include the Honeywell 9000 Color Touchscreen Thermostat, the Honeywell VisionPRO 8000 Series Thermostats, and the Honeywell FocusPRO 6000 Series Thermostats.

Total Connect 2.0 is much more robust than TCC. With TC2, you can arm and disarm your Honeywell Security System, control and set scenes for your Z-Wave smart home devices, view the live feed for Total Connect IP Cameras, and more. Since TC2 supports Z-Wave control, a much wider array of products are used with that platform when compared with TCC. While TCC is just for a select range of thermostats, TC2 can be used with alarm panels, smart lights, door locks, Z-Wave thermostats, and more. Please note that both TCC and TC2 can send you text and/or email alerts regarding device activity. This is important for knowing exactly what is going on inside your home. In addition, thermostats that integrate with Total Connect 2.0 via Total Connect Comfort can only be controlled manually via TC2. These WIFI thermostats cannot be used with scenes, as a Z-Wave thermostat can.

With the rise of Total Connect 2.0, there is very little reason to use Total Connect Comfort. In fact, it is now possible to integrate most TCC devices into TC2. To do this, you must still get the device set up with TCC. From there, you can login to your TC2 account and link your TCC account. This will allow you to control your TCC devices through TC2 and use them like you would any other TC2 device. Just remember that you will need a TC2 account to access TC2. This requires an appropriate alarm monitoring plan. All Alarm Grid monitoring plans of Silver and higher include access to TC2 for automation use. We recommend checking our alarm monitoring page for more information.
