What User Types Are Available on the IQ Panel 5 System?

The IQ Panel 5 has five user code types. Dealer (default 2222) and Installer (default 1111) codes provide full system access. Master (default 1234) manages users and settings. User and Guest codes arm and disarm only. Duress disarms the system while silently alerting the monitoring station.

User Code Overview

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) supports up to 242 user codes across six types. Each type provides a different level of access to the security system. The hierarchy runs from Dealer at the top down to Duress at the bottom. Only Dealer, Installer, and Master code users can create, edit, or delete other user codes. User and Guest codes are limited to arming and disarming the system only. All codes are managed through Advanced Settings, then User Management.

Dealer Code (Default: 2222)

The Dealer Code sits at the top of the access hierarchy. It provides full access to all panel functions including Dealer Branding, Local Automation, Master Reset, and all Installer and Master settings. The default Dealer Code is 2222. This code is typically used only by the installing dealer or monitoring company and should be changed after installation. Only one Dealer Code can exist on the panel at a time.

Installer Code (Default: 1111)

The Installer Code provides access to all installer-level menus including sensor programming, Z-Wave devices, WIFI settings, Security and Arming configuration, and System Tests. The default Installer Code is 1111. When you enter the Installer Code at the Advanced Settings screen, the Installation menu appears. This is the code an installer uses during setup and service calls. Change it after installation to prevent unauthorized access to system programming.

Master Code (Default: 1234)

The Master Code is the primary code for the homeowner or end user. It provides access to User Management, WIFI settings, Sound configuration, and all user-facing Advanced Settings menus. When you enter the Master Code at the Advanced Settings screen, the Master Settings menu appears. The Master Code user can add, edit, and delete User and Guest codes, but cannot access Installer-level menus. The default Master Code is 1234 — change it before handing the system over to the end user.

User Code

A User code is the standard code for household members. User codes can arm and disarm the system but cannot access any settings menus or manage other user codes. The IQ Panel 5 supports up to 242 total codes across all types. User codes do not expire by default. Each user code is identified by a first and last name so you can see in the activity log exactly who armed or disarmed the system and when — useful when you have monitoring service that logs all arm and disarm events.

Guest Code

A Guest code has the same arm and disarm access as a User code but includes one important difference: you can set an expiration date. When the expiration date is reached, the code automatically becomes inactive. This makes Guest codes ideal for temporary access — house cleaners, contractors, dog walkers, or short-term guests. Set the expiration date when creating the code and the panel handles the rest. Guest codes are added through User Management just like any other user.

Duress Code

A Duress code is a special user code for emergency situations. When a Duress code is entered, the panel disarms normally — nothing on the panel indicates anything unusual — but it simultaneously sends a silent duress signal to the monitoring station. This is designed for situations where someone is being forced to disarm the system against their will. The monitoring station receives the duress signal and can dispatch emergency services without alerting the intruder. The Duress code must be different from all other codes on the system. Only one Duress code can be active at a time.
