Will Alarm.com Work w/ an Interlogix Simon XT?
Yes, Alarm.com will work with an Interlogix Simon XT System. But the system will need to have a cellular communicator installed. Also, the user will need to have an alarm monitoring plan that includes cellular service. The Alarm.com service is great for getting the most out of a Simon XT.
Alarm.com is an interactive service platform that is used for controlling an alarm system. A user can access the Alarm.com server through any web browser or using the Alarm.com Mobile App. Once on Alarm.com, a user can arm and disarm their system, check the status of sensors and control Z-Wave devices. The service provides an extremely convenient access point for the Simon XT System. Many users particularly appreciate the Alarm.com Mobile App, which allows them to control a Simon XT System from virtually anywhere.
However, the Interlogix Simon XT will require a cellular module add-on before it can sync with Alarm.com. Without any add-ons, the Simon XT is a rather limited alarm system overall. It will only be able to use a POTS (plain old telephone service) connection, which is typically viewed as being very slow and outdated. Simply put, telephone service is not satisfactory for most alarm applications. That is why we encourage Simon XT users to upgrade to a cellular connection. Cellular service is significantly more reliable and faster than a telephone connection. It will provide a more pleasing experience for the end user overall.
Alarm.com requires all alarm systems to receive active cellular service before they can utilize the service. The Simon XT is no exception to this rule. In order for a Simon XT System to obtain cellular service, it is necessary to install a cellular communication module in the panel. The user will also need to obtain an alarm monitoring plan that includes cellular communication. Only then will a user be able to use their Simon XT System with Alarm.com.
