The DSC NEO-2016-PK10-ENC-VZ is a 10-1 System Kit. This kit includes a 16-zone DSC HS2016 PowerSeries NEO System, a DSC HS2LCDRF N NEO Keypad w/ Integrated PowerG Transceiver, an Alarm.com Dual-Path Verizon LTE & IP Communicator, 10 PowerG Contacts, a PowerG Motion, and an LT-Cable.
The DSC HS2016NK PowerSeries NEO is a hardwired alarm control panel that offers some great features. However, this particular model only supports 16 zones. This is relatively small when compared with other systems. As a result, this system can really only be used in smaller homes and businesses. You must also keep in mind that the panel only has six (6) on-board hardwired zone terminals. A DSC HSM2108 Expansion Module must be added to use additional hardwired sensors. Alternatively, wireless PowerG Sensors can be used instead.
This system kit can readily support PowerG Sensors thanks to the DSC HS2LCDRF9 N NEO Keypad that comes included. This keypad has a PowerG Transceiver built-in. Once you have the keypad installed and addressed, you can start enrolling PowerG Sensors with the system. Just keep the 16-zone limit in mind, as both hardwired sensors and wireless PowerG Sensors will count toward this restriction. PowerG Sensors are great, as they can communicate from up to 2km away with direct line of sight, and they utilize 128-bit AES encryption for added wireless security. We included ten (10) PG9303 Contacts and one (1) PG9914 Motion with this kit.
Another important component of this system kit is the DSC TL880LTVZ N Verizon LTE and IP Dual-Path Communicator. This is what allows the system to communicate with the Alarm.com servers for fast and reliable monitoring service. It also enables you to control the system through Alarm.com. This is an interactive monitoring and automation platform that you can access from a website or remotely through a mobile app. By accessing ADC, you can arm and disarm your system, check its current status, control Z-Wave devices and more. This communicator also includes a built-in Z-Wave Plus Communicator so that you can get started with Z-Wave. Remember that a monitoring plan with access to ADC is required to activate this communicator.
We also included a Honeywell LT-Cable with this kit to make it easy to power your system. This cable connects the DSC HS2016NK PowerSeries NEO Panel to its included plug-in transformer. However, a backup battery does not come included with this kit. Many users will purchase an UltraTech 1240 for this purpose. If you use a lot of power-drawing devices with the system then you may need to upgrade to a more powerful battery like the UltraTech 1270 instead. Keep in mind that the typical backup battery will last for three (3) to five (5) years. After that, you will need to get a replacement.
