Can I Add Sensors to My L7000?

Yes, you can add sensors to your L7000. The system supports 345 MHz wireless sensors from the Honeywell 5800 Series. These sensors can be readily enrolled with the L7000 through system programming. You will need the Installer Code for the system to complete the enrollment process.

The Honeywell L7000 depends on signals sent from sensors to let the user know about any activity on the premises. This could include a door being opened, a window being broken, a fire, movement in the building or anything else that warrants immediate action or attention. In order for a sensor to work with the L7000, it must first be programmed with the system. Nearly all of the wireless 345 MHz sensors from the Honeywell 5800 Series can be used with the system. However, the system cannot support the 345 MHz sensors from 2GIG. It also cannot support the Honeywell SiX Series Sensors that operate on the 2.4 GHz band.

To add a new sensor to the Honeywell L7000, complete the following steps:

1. Enter Programming. Start from the main screen of the Honeywell L7000. Choose Security > More > Tools > Installer Code (default 4112) > Program. You are now in Programming.

2. Enroll the sensor. Choose "Zones" to enter Zone Programming. Then choose "Add New" at the bottom. This will take you to the menu where you can add a new sensor. The first step is to enroll the sensor. Press the "Serial Number" field in the upper-left corner. This will put the panel into its wireless enrollment mode so that a new wireless sensor can be learned-in. Activate the sensor or remove its tamper cover to have the sensor recognized by the system. The panel will beep to confirm that it has recognized the sensor. You must do this three times to auto-enroll the sensor. At that point, the panel will beep three times, and you will be taken back to the previous screen. The Serial Number for the sensor will be displayed.

3. Configure the settings. Go through and adjust each programming field to the appropriate setting. You can see more information about each programming field starting on page 35 of the Honeywell L5200 & L7000 Installation Manual and Setup Guide.

4. Save your changes. Once you have configured all the settings, you can save your changes and exit programming. Press the Save button in the lower-right corner. This will take you back to the Zone Programming Menu. Then repeatedly press the return arrow in the upper-right corner until you return to the main screen.
