Can I Pre-Program a Honeywell L5200?

No, a Honeywell L5200 cannot be pre-programmed by Alarm Grid. The reason that we do not pre-program panels is because the process is incredibly simple, and it can be easily completed by the end user. Additionally, our support team is available to help you every step of the way, if necessary.

Any user who purchases a Honeywell L5200 security panel will be required to make their own programming changes to the system. The Honeywell L5200 panel is an incredibly user-friendly panel, making it an excellent choice for DIY users. By programming the panel yourself, you will have full control over how the panel will be used locally. Our site features many L5200 FAQs to assist you, and we also provide phone support if you need it.

A huge part of programming the Honeywell L5200 system is accessing the programming menu of the panel. To reach this menu from the home screen, go to Security > More > Tools > enter the installer code (default is 4112) > Program. After completing these steps, you will be at the programming menu of the panel.

From here, you can select "System Settings" to change many basic settings of the panel, including its entry and exit delays, enabling auto stay arming and more. When exiting the programming menu, always be sure to select "Yes" when the panel prompts "Allow Installer to re-enter programming?"

Within the "Zones" section of the programming menu, you will be able to connect new wireless devices with the panel. After you select "Zones", click on any available zone to highlight it. Then select "Edit" at the bottom of the screen. You can also select "Add New" to be taken to the edit screen of the next available wireless zone. Many wireless devices can be auto-enrolled by clicking the "Serial Number" section of the zone edit screen and then faulting the sensor three times to have it automatically recognized by the panel. This can be done with any Honeywell 5800 Series wireless device.

The L5200 can also interact with Z-Wave devices after an L5100 ZWAVE controller has been installed. Users can setup Z-Wave devices with their L5200 system by selecting "Automation" on the home screen of the panel. This menu can also be used to setup rules and scenes for Z-Wave devices once they have been added. Rules and scenes can be used to have Z-Wave devices automatically activate when specific events occurs, such as when you disarm your system or when you walk into a room and trigger a motion sensor. The video shown below will help you install an L5100 ZWAVE into your L5200.
