Can WIFI be primary and GSM backup on an L5100?

If you're looking for the most secure, reliable communication path for your Honeywell LYNX Touch L5100, we always recommend using a cellular / GSM communicator.

Typically, most owners of a Honeywell LYNX 5100 will also have an Internet connection available at their home and we encourage them to consider doing dual path and using both their home's WiFi as the primary and a GSM as the backup.

In addition to providing a secondary path in case the GSM is unable to connect, using an Internet connection can also offer a faster path for heavier bandwidth features such as video and remote control.

In order to use WIFI as your primary, you will need to install a Honeywell L5100-WIFI:

In order to make your L5100 communicate via GSM, you will need to install a cellular communicator such as the all new 4G capable Honeywell GSMVLP5-4G:

With both modules installed, the WIFI will act as your primary path and in the event the Internet service is unavaible, the system will automatically switch over and use the backup cellular path.

Are you already signed up with us Nate? The WIFI can certainly be added but will most likely need to be added by your AlarmNet dealer. Just to be clear, the WIFI will not make phone calls. It only allows you to send your alarms through the IP path and to access Total Connect through your router.
I have installed both L5100 WIFI and the GSMVLP5 GSM Radio in the Honeywell Lynx Touch 5100. Currently the GSM Module is working but the WIFI is not setup. Without the GSM Module, the WIFI connect to my wireless router. Do I need to contact AlarmGrid to configure my WIFI module as a dual monitor or can I configure it myself on the control panel to make internet calls?
Yes, the ILP5 and L5100-WIFI are both AlarmNet internet communicators. The iLP5 uses a hardwired Cat-5 connection and the L5100-WIFI connects wirelessly to your router. If you have the GSMVLP5-4G already, you have the option to add the L510-WIFI as well so that your system would communicate over the internet as the primary path and would have the backup cellular path as well. You can't use the ILP5 and the GSMVLP5-4G in the same LYNX Touch system though as they both use the same connection port.
Hello, When I install GSMVLP5 Internal GSM Radio with Two-Way Voice Support and Honeywell Lynx Touch L5100-WIFI Is it need to install ILP5 Internal Internet Communicator ? What's the difference between ILP5 and L5100-WiFi? May be ILP5 is wired connection with internet and L5100-WiFi is wireless?
