Does the Interlogix Simon XT Support Partitions?
No, the Interlogix Simon XT does not support partitions. In other words, the Simon XT is a single-partition system. It is not possible to assign different access levels to the different user codes on the system. If a user wants to use partitioning, they will need to use a different system.
Partitioning refers to the practice of essentially sectioning off an alarm system. This way, not every system zone is necessarily affected when a single partition is armed or disarmed. So for example, if a system is armed, and only partition 1 is disarmed, then the zones associated with partition 2 will still remain armed.
Whether or not any given user code can arm or disarm a particular partition is determined by its access level. The access level for a user code must typically be set by the Master Code. Each user code can be assigned access to different partitions so that they only have access to necessary parts of the system. So if a user code that only has access to partition 1 tries to disarm partition 2, it will not work.
But the Interlogix Simon XT does not provide support for partitions. There are no access levels that can be assigned to the various user codes programmed with the system. Each of the eight user codes will have the same access level. Even the Master Code will have the same arming and disarming capabilities as the standard user codes. Additionally, security sensors used with the Simon XT System will not be assigned to a particular partition.
If a user does want to set up partitioning, they will need to use a different alarm system than the Simon XT. Partitioning is a more common feature on hardwired alarm systems, such as the Honeywell VISTA Series. Panels designed for commercial use, like the Honeywell VISTA 128BPT, are known for supporting several different partitions on one system. But please note, not every panel in the Honeywell VISTA Series can support multiple partitions.
