How Do I Activate the 2GIG CDMAV-A-GC3 in a 2GIG GC3?
The CDMAV-A-GC3 cellular communicator must be activated by an Alarm.com dealer. After installing the module, call a compatible monitoring company and have them activate the communicator. Once the communicator has been activated, you will receive an email to help you set up Alarm.com service.
Complete the following steps to activate the CDMAV-A-GC3 cellular communicator with your 2GIG GC3 security system:
Install the module. From the home screen of your GC3 security system, go to System Settings > enter in the Installer Code (the default code is 1561) > Cell Radio Swap > Begin. Next, insert the cellular communicator into the designated port on the left hand side of the GC3 System. The GC3 does not need to be powered down when inserting the communicator. The video provided below will help you with the installation process:
- Activate the unit. Let your monitoring company know that you have the unit installed in the GC3 and that you are ready to begin monitoring. You will be asked to provide the communicator's serial number. You can find this by pressing the 2GIG logo in the upper right > Enter Installer Code (Default = 1561) > Radio Status > Serial Number. This information can also be found on the communicator itself. After providing the monitoring company with the required information, they will create your account, and activate the unit with Alarm.com.
- Confirm signal strength. You can check signal strength by following the steps above for retrieving the module serial number. On the same screen, you'll see the signal strength displayed. You can also ask your monitoring company what the signal strength is for the communicator. In certain areas, there may not be enough cell signal for the device to properly communicate. If this is the case, installing a device like a cellular amplifier might remedy the situation.
- Login to Alarm.com. After the activation has been completed, your alarm monitoring company will send you an email with instructions on how to login to Alarm.com. Follow the provided instructions in order to access the Alarm.com platform. There is also an Alarm.com app that is available for both Android and iOS devices. This app can be downloaded from the respective app store for these devices.
