How Do I Add a 2GIG CO Detector to the IQ Panel 5 System?

To add a 2GIG CO detector to the IQ Panel 5, install the IQ QC0005-840 345 MHz daughter card first. Go to Advanced Settings, Installation, Devices, Security Sensors, and touch Auto Learn Sensor. Press the test button on the 2GIG-00100-345, set Sensor Type to CO Detector, and touch Add New.

Before You Begin

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) is compatible with the 2GIG-00100-345 Carbon Monoxide Detector, a 345 MHz wireless CO detector. Because it operates on the 345 MHz frequency, the IQ QC0005-840 345 MHz daughter card must be installed inside the panel before enrollment. If not yet installed, power down the panel, seat the card in the expansion slot, and reboot before starting.

Once enrolled, the CO detector is always active — monitoring for carbon monoxide 24 hours a day regardless of whether the security system is armed or disarmed. CO detectors use Sensor Group 34 and cannot be bypassed. When CO is detected, the panel sounds the CO alarm and sends a report to the monitoring station. Install CO detectors on every level of the home and near each sleeping area per local code requirements.

Steps to Add the CO Detector

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and touch Settings. The Settings page opens.

4. Touch Auto Learn Sensor. The panel enters listening mode and waits for a 345 MHz signal.

5. Press the test button on the 2GIG-00100-345. The detector sends a signal. The panel chimes and displays the sensor DL ID with a confirmation popup. The Source field shows SRF345. A Loop field also appears — 345 MHz CO sensors use Loop 1 only.

6. Touch OK to confirm the sensor. The sensor configuration screen appears.

7. Set the Sensor Type to CO Detector. The Sensor Group automatically sets to Group 34 (CO). This is the only group available for CO detectors and cannot be changed.

8. Choose a Sensor Name and touch Add New. Select a descriptive name such as Living Room CO or First Floor CO, then touch Add New to save the detector.

After Adding the CO Detector

After enrollment, test the CO detector by pressing and holding the test button until the panel responds with a CO alarm. The detector is now supervised — the panel monitors its signal continuously and alerts you if communication is lost or the battery is low. CO detectors cannot be bypassed. They remain active at all times and will trigger an alarm whenever carbon monoxide reaches a dangerous level, regardless of whether the system is armed. For full protection, add a monitoring plan and consider adding PowerG sensors to expand your system coverage.

Adding the 2GIG-00100-345 CO detector to your IQ Panel 5 gives you 24-hour wireless carbon monoxide protection throughout your home on the IQ Panel 5.
