How Do I Add a 2GIG Panic Button to the IQ Panel 5 System?

To add a 2GIG panic button to the IQ Panel 5, install the IQ QC0005-840 345 MHz daughter card first. Go to Advanced Settings, Installation, Devices, Security Sensors, touch Auto Learn, press the PANIC100-345 button, set Sensor Type to Auxiliary Pendant, and choose a Sensor Group.

Before You Begin

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) is compatible with the 2GIG-PANIC100-345, a 345 MHz wireless panic button. Because it operates on the 345 MHz frequency, the IQ QC0005-840 345 MHz daughter card must be installed before enrollment. The panic button enrolls as an Auxiliary Pendant sensor type. Once enrolled, pressing the button triggers a panic alarm on the panel and — with an active monitoring plan — notifies the central station.

The Sensor Group determines what type of panic is triggered and whether the button is supervised. Group 1 (Mobile Intrusion) triggers a police panic and is not supervised — suitable for a carried or worn button. Group 4 (Fixed Auxiliary) triggers an auxiliary panic, is supervised, and is best for a fixed location like a nightstand. Group 3 (Mobile Silent) and Group 6 (Mobile Auxiliary) send silent panics. Choose the group that matches how the button will be used. Note that 345 MHz panic buttons use Loop 1 only.

Steps to Add the Panic Button

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and touch Settings. The Settings page opens.

After Adding the Panic Button

Test the button after enrollment by pressing it and confirming the panel triggers the expected alarm type. With a monitoring plan, the central station receives the panic signal and can dispatch the appropriate emergency services. Keep in mind that unsupervised groups (Groups 1, 3, 6, 7) do not check in with the panel — if the battery dies or the button is out of range, the panel does not know. Supervised groups (Groups 0, 2, 4, 5) check in regularly so the panel can alert you to a communication problem. For the best protection across your entire security system, choose a supervised group whenever the button will be in a fixed location.

Adding the 2GIG-PANIC100-345 to your IQ Panel 5 gives you a wireless panic button for triggering an emergency alarm from anywhere in the home on the IQ Panel 5.
