How Do I Add a 2GIG Wireless Repeater to the IQ Panel 5?

To add a 2GIG wireless repeater to the IQ Panel 5, install the IQ QC0005-840 345 MHz daughter card first. Go to Advanced Settings, Installation, Devices, Security Sensors, touch Auto Learn Sensor, and press the test button on the RPTR100-345. Set Sensor Type to Repeater and touch Add New.

What the 2GIG-RPTR100-345 Does

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) is compatible with the 2GIG-RPTR100-345 wireless indoor repeater. This device extends the wireless range of 345 MHz sensors that are too far from the panel to communicate reliably. When a 345 MHz sensor signal is too weak to reach the panel directly, the RPTR100-345 picks up the signal and retransmits it, bridging the distance. The IQ QC0005-840 345 MHz daughter card must be installed in the panel before the repeater can be used.

The RPTR100-345 only repeats 345 MHz sensor signals — it does not extend PowerG, Z-Wave, Bluetooth, or any other frequency. It is enrolled as a Sensor Type of Repeater using Sensor Group 0 and Loop 1. It has no alarm capability of its own. Place the repeater roughly halfway between the panel and the sensors that are having communication trouble. The repeater must also be within 345 MHz range of the panel to function correctly.

Steps to Add the Repeater

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and touch Settings. The Settings page opens.

3. Touch Installation, then Devices, then Security Sensors. The Security Sensors menu opens.

4. Touch Auto Learn Sensor. The panel enters listening mode and waits for a 345 MHz signal.

5. Press the test button on the 2GIG-RPTR100-345. The panel chimes and displays the DL ID. Source shows SRF345. Leave Loop at Loop 1 — the only option for 345 MHz repeaters.

6. Touch OK to confirm the repeater. The sensor configuration screen appears.

7. Set the Sensor Type to Repeater, choose Sensor Group 0, add a name, and touch Add New. Group 0 is the correct group for all repeaters. Enter a name such as Basement Repeater or Far Bedroom Repeater and touch Add New to save.

After Adding the Repeater

After enrollment, run a sensor test to confirm the 345 MHz sensors that were out of range are now communicating through the repeater. Go to Advanced Settings, System Tests, and select Sensor Test to walk each sensor and verify it checks in. The repeater itself has no alarm function — if it loses communication with the panel, a trouble condition is generated. For best results, place the repeater at a central point between the panel and the distant sensors. A monitoring plan ensures all sensors, including those relying on the repeater, report to the central station. Expand your security system coverage with additional 345 MHz sensors once the repeater is in place.

Adding the 2GIG-RPTR100-345 to your IQ Panel 5 extends the range of 345 MHz sensors that are too far from the panel to communicate reliably on the IQ Panel 5.
