How Do I Add a 5869 to a LYNX Touch or Lyric System?

You can add a 5869 to a LYNX Touch or Lyric system by first accessing the programming menu of the panel. From there, you will be able to auto-learn the device into your system. Then, install the panic switch in a desired location, and test the device to ensure that it is working properly.

Complete the following steps to add the Honeywell 5869 panic switch to a system:

1. Access zone programming. From the home screen of your Lynx Touch panel, go to Security > More > Tools > enter your installer code (the default code is 4112) > Program > Zones. You will now be at the zone programming menu of your panel.
On the Lyric, go to Security > Tools > enter installer code (default is 4112) > Program > Zones.

2. Program the panic. Click on an available zone to highlight it. Then select "Edit" at the bottom of the screen. Click on the "Serial Number" field in the upper left corner. Your system will now be in learn mode.

You can auto-enroll the 5869 by activating it three times within 52 seconds. This can be done by pressing the switch and then using its included reset key to reset the device. Doing this three times will auto learn the device. Your system should beep three times to confirm that enrollment was successful.

You will be taken back to the programming screen for the zone. Select "Zone Response", and then choose either the "Audible" or "Silent" panic option. This will determine whether or not the alarm will sound when the switch is pressed.

The video provided below explains how to program the 5869 to a LYNX Touch system:

3. Install the panic. You can install the 5869 by screwing it into a desired location. The breakaway tamper screw must be installed in its specified slot and screwed into the mounting surface. After the tamper screw is installed, if the panic button is forcibly removed, the alarm system will activate. This isn't necessary for operation, but it is an important feature to have when installing the switch in a commercial location.

4. Test the panic. Once the system is out of programming and the 5869 installed, contact your alarm monitoring company and have them put your system into test mode. Test the switch by pressing and holding the panic button. The system should provide the panic response that you selected in programming.
