How Do I Add a Doorbell Camera to the IQ Panel 5 System?

To add a doorbell camera to the IQ Panel 5, connect the camera to your Alarm.com account through the Alarm.com website or app. Cameras connect via WIFI, not directly to the panel. Enable Live Answer in Alarm.com Video Settings so the panel shows a live feed when your doorbell rings.

How Doorbell Cameras Work With the IQ Panel 5

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) supports Live Answer for doorbell cameras through the Alarm.com platform. Doorbell cameras do not connect directly to the panel like Z-Wave or PowerG devices — they connect to your home WIFI network and register with your Alarm.com account. The panel then receives doorbell ring notifications through Alarm.com and displays a live video pop-up on the touchscreen. The Alarm.com ADC-VDB770 is a compatible doorbell camera model.

To use Live Answer on the IQ Panel 5, you need an active Alarm.com monitoring plan that includes video features, and the Live Answer notification must be enabled in your Alarm.com account settings. Setup has two parts: adding the camera to Alarm.com, and enabling the doorbell notification on the panel.

Part 1: Add the Camera to Alarm.com

1. Install the doorbell camera and connect it to your home WIFI. Follow the manufacturer's installation instructions. The camera needs a stable WIFI connection to communicate with Alarm.com.

2. Log in to your Alarm.com account and navigate to Video. From the Alarm.com website or app, go to the Video section and select Add Camera or follow the in the app prompts to add a new video device.

3. Follow the Alarm.com setup wizard to add your doorbell camera. The wizard walks you through connecting the camera to your account. Once complete, the camera appears in your Alarm.com video device list.

Part 2: Enable Live Answer on the IQ Panel 5

1. Log in to your Alarm.com account and go to Video Settings. Navigate to the video device settings for your doorbell camera.

2. Click Video Device Info and enable the doorbell notification for the panel. Check the box to enable Live Answer notifications. This tells Alarm.com to send a live video pop-up to the IQ Panel 5 whenever someone rings the doorbell.

3. Test by pressing the doorbell button. A notification pop-up appears on the IQ Panel 5 touchscreen showing the live doorbell camera feed. Touch Answer (green button) to open the two-way audio feed, or Dismiss (red button) to close the notification.

Live Answer Controls

After answering the doorbell, the live camera feed opens on the panel. Touch and hold Talk to speak to whoever is at the door. Touch Speaker to toggle the speaker on or off. If your system is armed, touch the armed status button to disarm it directly from the doorbell screen. If you have a paired Z-Wave lock at the front door, an Unlock button also appears — touch it to unlock the door remotely. Touch End to close the feed and return to the home screen.

You can also view your doorbell camera feed at any time by swiping left from the home screen to reach the Cameras page, or through the Alarm.com app from anywhere. For full home automation integration including camera clips, motion alerts, and doorbell automations, your Alarm.com plan must include the appropriate video features.
