How Do I Add a PowerG Door/Window Sensor to the IQ5 NS?

To add a PowerG door or window sensor to the IQ5 NS, open the IQ Installer app and connect to the panel. Navigate to Installation, Devices, Security Sensors, and select Auto Learn Sensor. Touch Start Autolearn, trip the sensor, set Sensor Type to Door/Window, and select a Sensor Group.

Compatible PowerG Door and Window Sensors

The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) is a screenless security system panel that supports PowerG door and window contacts natively. A compatible model is the DSC PGP9945E PowerG Door/Window Contact. The standard PG9945 and slim PGP9303 vanishing contact are also compatible. No daughter card required. All enrollment is done through the IQ Installer app.

The Sensor Group controls how the sensor behaves when the system is armed. Group 10 (Entry-Exit Normal Delay) is the standard choice for a main entry door — it gives you the entry delay period to disarm. Group 13 (Instant Perimeter D/W) triggers instantly for windows and secondary doors. Choose the right group before saving.

Steps to Add the Door or Window Sensor

1. Open the IQ Installer app and connect to the IQ5 NS panel. The Configuration menu opens in the app.

4. Trip the sensor to send a signal. Open and close the door or window. For newer PowerG sensors, pull the battery tab to power on. For older models, press and hold the enroll button until the LED flashes. The app displays the DL ID with a confirmation prompt.

5. Touch OK and configure the sensor fields. Set Sensor Type to Door/Window. For the PGP9945E, set the Sensor Input to Reed Switch for standard use. Choose a Sensor Group — Group 10 for a main entry door, Group 13 for windows. Enter a name such as Front Door or Living Room Window and touch Save.

Sensor Groups for Door and Window Sensors

Group 10 gives your main entry door a delay period to disarm before alarming. Group 12 provides a longer delay for garage or secondary entries. Group 13 triggers instantly for windows and doors that should never open while armed. Add a monitoring plan and expand your perimeter coverage with additional PowerG sensors at every entry point.

Adding a PowerG door or window sensor to your IQ5 NS gives you encrypted wireless protection at every entry point managed through the IQ Installer app on the IQ5 NS.
