How Do I Add a PowerG Motion Sensor to the IQ5 Hub Panel?
To add a PowerG motion sensor to the IQ5 Hub, swipe down, touch Settings, Advanced Settings, enter the Installer Code (1111 by default), and go to Installation, Devices, Security Sensors. Touch Auto Learn Sensor, activate the PGP9914, set Sensor Type to Motion, and select a Sensor Group.
Before You Begin
The IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) does not include a built-in motion sensor, so external PowerG motion detectors are the primary source of interior motion protection. The DSC PGP9914 PowerG PIR Motion Detector connects natively over PowerG wireless — no daughter card required. Mount the detector before enrollment and confirm it is within PowerG range of the panel.
The Sensor Group controls when the motion sensor is active. Group 17 (Away-Instant Motion) activates only when armed to Away and trips instantly when motion is detected — the most common choice for interior rooms. Group 15 (Stay-Instant Motion) keeps the sensor active in both Stay and Away modes for areas you want to monitor even when home. Choose the group that matches your needs before enrolling.
Steps to Add the Motion Sensor
1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and touch Settings. The Settings page opens.

6. Touch OK, set Sensor Type to Motion, choose a Sensor Group and Name, then touch Add New. Group 17 (Away-Instant Motion) is the standard choice. Choose a name such as Living Room Motion and touch Add New to save.

Motion Sensor Groups Explained
Group 17 (Away-Instant Motion) activates only when armed to Away — the right choice for most interior rooms. Group 15 (Stay-Instant Motion) activates in both Stay and Away modes for areas you want protected when home. Group 20 (Away-Delay Motion) gives an entry delay when motion is detected. Group 25 (Safety Motion) never triggers an alarm and is used for activity monitoring only. For complete protection, add a monitoring plan and expand coverage with additional PowerG sensors throughout your security system.
