By pairing a Z-Wave switch with your Honeywell Tuxedo Touch Keypad, you will be able to do many things. You can control the switch locally using the keypad itself. And if your monitoring plan includes access to Total Connect 2.0, you will be able to control it remotely using your phone or a web browser. TC2 will also allow you to create smart scenes so that your Z-Wave switch activates automatically based on a schedule or with certain system events.

In order to pair a Z-Wave switch, you must have access to both the switch and the Tuxedo Touch Keypad. The Z-Wave switch should be wired appropriately with the electricity running or plugged into an outlet if it is a plug-in switch. Complete the following steps to pair a Z-Wave switch with your Tuxedo Touch Keypad:

1. Access Tuxedo exclusion mode. It is always recommended that you clear a Z-Wave device from the network before attempting to pair it. Start by putting the Tuxedo Touch into its exclusion mode. This is done by selecting Automation, followed by Z-Wave Setup. The Z-Wave Setup button is the one with the wrench, screwdriver, and Z-Wave logo as seen in the picture below.

Once you are in the Z-Wave Setup Menu, choose Remove Device. The Tuxedo Touch Keypad will now be in its exclusion mode for clearing devices from the network.

2. Clear the switch. Activate the inclusion/exclusion function on your Z-Wave switch. Most Z-Wave switches will have a button that you can press for this purpose. Refer to the instruction manual for the specific device for more information. If it is an in-wall switch, then it's possible that the button may be hidden by a cover plate. You should see a notification on the Tuxedo Touch indicating that a device has been excluded. You can then exit exclusion mode.

3. Access Tuxedo exclusion mode. Now you will pair the device with the network. Do this by returning to the same Z-Wave Setup Menu as mentioned in Step 1. Then choose Add Device. This will put the Tuxedo Keypad into its Z-Wave inclusion mode.

4. Pair the switch. Repeat Step 2, and activate the inclusion/exclusion function on your Z-Wave switch. Again, it's possible that this button may be under a cover plate. The Tuxedo should provide indication that a new device has been added. Remember to configure the switch settings and test it accordingly.
