To add an IQ Smoke and Heat detector to the IQ Panel 5, swipe down, touch Settings, Advanced Settings, enter the Installer Code (1111 by default), go to Installation, Devices, Security Sensors, touch Auto Learn, activate the QS5130-840, set Sensor Type to Smoke Detector, and touch Add New.

About the IQ Smoke and Heat Detector

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) is compatible with the Qolsys IQ Smoke QS5130-840, a Qolsys S-Line 319.5 MHz wireless smoke and heat detector. The S-Line frequency is built natively into all IQ Panel 5 panels — no daughter card is required. The QS5130-840 uses S-Line encrypted two-way communication for supervised wireless protection.

Once enrolled, the IQ Smoke and Heat detector is always active regardless of whether the security system is armed or disarmed. It monitors 24 hours a day and triggers a fire alarm the moment smoke or heat is detected. Smoke detectors are assigned Sensor Group 26 and cannot be bypassed. With a monitoring plan, the central station receives the fire signal and can dispatch emergency services immediately.

Steps to Add the IQ Smoke and Heat Detector

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and touch Settings. The Settings page opens.

2. Touch Advanced Settings and enter the Installer Code (1111 by default). The Advanced Settings menu opens.

3. Touch Installation, then Devices, then Security Sensors. The Security Sensors menu opens.

4. Touch Auto Learn Sensor. The panel enters listening mode and waits for an S-Line signal.

5. Activate the QS5130-840 to send a signal. Pull the battery tab to power on the detector. The panel chimes and displays the sensor DL ID with a confirmation popup. The Source field shows S-Line confirming the encrypted S-Line signal was received.

6. Touch OK to confirm the sensor. The sensor configuration screen appears.

7. Set the Sensor Type to Smoke Detector. The Sensor Group automatically sets to Group 26 (Smoke Detector). Enter a Sensor Name such as Living Room Smoke or Hallway Smoke, then touch Add New to save.

After Adding the Detector

Test the detector after enrollment by pressing the test button until the panel sounds a fire alarm. The IQ Smoke and Heat detector is supervised — the panel monitors its S-Line connection continuously and alerts you if the detector goes offline or the battery is low. Smoke detectors cannot be bypassed and remain active at all times. Install detectors on every level of the home and near sleeping areas per local code. For additional fire coverage, the IQ Heat 135/200 adds fixed-temperature heat detection. For carbon monoxide protection, add the IQ Carbon detector.
