How Do I Add More Time to My Exit Delay on the 2GIG GC Touch?

To add exit delay time on the 2GIG GC Touch, tap Add 30 Seconds during the countdown for a one-time extension, or permanently change the setting through System Settings. Accessing System Settings requires the Installer Code (1561 by default) and allows separate timers for each arming mode.

The 2GIG GC Touch (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE versions) provides flexible exit delay options. The exit delay is the countdown period after arming that gives you time to leave through an entry/exit door before the security system becomes fully armed.

Quick Extension During Countdown

If you need a little more time while the exit delay is counting down, tap the Add 30 Seconds button that appears on the screen. This extends the countdown by 30 seconds, giving you additional time to exit. Note that this extension can only be applied once per arming cycle, so plan accordingly.

Another lesser-known way to extend the exit delay for a single arming event is to use Silent Arming. When you select Silent Arming, the panel suppresses the exit delay beeps, which is helpful if someone needs to arm the system while others are asleep. As an added benefit, Silent Arming automatically doubles the exit delay for that arming cycle.

Permanently Changing Exit Delay Time

To permanently increase your exit delay time, you need to access the System Settings menu using the Installer Code. The panel allows separate exit delay settings for Arm Away and Arm Stay modes, so you can customize each based on your needs.

Steps to Change Exit Delay Settings

  1. Disarm the system. The panel must be disarmed to access Settings. If armed, slide the mode selector to Disarm and enter your code, then press Enter (↵).
  2. Tap Settings (gear icon). The gear icon is located in the top-right corner of the home screen.
  3. Enter the Installer Code. The default Installer Code is 1561. Enter the code and press the Enter key (↵). System Settings requires Installer-level access.
  4. Tap Advanced Settings. This opens additional configuration menus including Panel Settings, System Settings, and Installer Code.
  5. Tap System Settings. This menu contains all timing options including entry delay, exit delay, alarm length, and other system behaviors.
  6. Locate the Exit Delay Time option. The screen displays separate sections for Arm Away and Arm Stay. Under each section, you will find Exit Delay Time along with Entry Delay Time 1 and Entry Delay Time 2. These options correspond to the zone Group setting. A zone assigned as Group 1, Exit Entry 1 will follow Entry Delay Time 1 while a zone assigned as Group 2, Exit Entry 2 will follow Entry Delay Time 2.
  7. Tap the dropdown and select your desired time. Choose a longer exit delay time from the available options. The setting applies immediately and will be used for all future arming events.

Related Exit Delay Settings

The System Settings menu includes other options that affect exit delay behavior:

  • Exit Time Restart: This setting will restart the exit countdown if an entry/exit sensor is tripped during the delay. This is only available once per arming cycle. Use this feature to allow you to quickly run back inside to retrieve a forgotten item without having to disarm and re-arm the system.
  • Auto Stay: When enabled, the system automatically switches to Stay mode if no entry/exit sensor is opened and closed during the exit delay.
  • Quick Exit: This option, when enabled, adds a button to the home screen for a 60-second exit delay, minus the Add 30 Seconds option. Quick Exit is commonly used while the system is armed in the Stay Mode. It allows you to quickly exit and re-enter without having to disarm then arm again.

Adjusting exit delay time on the 2GIG GC Touch ensures you have enough time to leave your home after arming. The exit delay should be long enough to allow you to easily exit the location after arming the system. The Installer Code (1561 by default) is required to change the default setting.
