How Do I Arm the Qolsys IQ Panel 5 System in Stay Mode?

To arm the Qolsys IQ Panel 5 in Stay mode, touch the System Disarmed icon on the main screen, then tap Arm Stay. Enter a valid code, if prompted. Stay Mode is used when you plan to stay within the building, but want to protect perimeter zones. This mode automatically bypasses interior zones.

The Qolsys IQ Panel 5, available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE versions, features a 7-inch touchscreen display that makes arming your system quick and easy. The main home screen displays system status prominently, and tapping System Disarmed reveals the Arm Stay and Arm Away buttons. Arming in Stay mode is perfect for nighttime security or when you are home during the day. By bypassing interior zones, such as motion detectors, you stay protected without the risk of accidentally triggering the alarm.

Steps to Arm in Stay Mode

  1. Secure the premises. Ensure all doors and windows are closed. If there are active (faulted) zones, the default setting is for them to be bypassed automatically so the system can arm. A message appears, and if Voice is enabled, the system announces that some sensors are Open, Tampered, in Trouble, or Synchronizing. If you press OK, the system continues arming and announces which zones are bypassed. You can disable Auto Bypass by tapping the gray bar at the top of the screen, then tapping Settings > Advanced Settings > Enter Installer Code (default: 1111) > Installation > Security and Arming, then deselecting Auto Bypass. The IQ Panel 5 displays a list of open or active sensors on the right side of the home screen. Door and window sensors must be either closed or bypassed before arming.
  2. Arm the system. Tap the System Disarmed icon, then tap Arm Stay. The panel displays "System Armed Stay" with a white padlock on a yellow background.
  3. Allow the system to arm. By default, Arm Stay has no exit delay (Arm Stay - No Delay is enabled), so the system arms immediately. To disable this feature tap the gray menu bar at the top of the panel screen, then tap Settings > Advanced Settings > Enter Installer Code (default: 1111) > Installation > Security and Arming. Find Arm Stay - No Delay in the list and uncheck it.
  4. Go about your day (or night). Once the system shows System Armed Stay, you're protected. Go about your regular routine. If you have disabled Arm Stay - No Delay the system is not armed until the exit delay countdown is finished.

Using Additional Arming Options

Before arming, you can access additional options by touching the > icon on the right side of the arming screen, before tapping Arm Stay. This reveals three options:

The IQ Panel 5 arming screen is shown above. Tap the > on the right side to access more arming options.

Bypass allows you to exclude specific door and window sensors from the armed system by touching the circle next to each sensor you want the system to ignore during this armed period. When "Active" is selected, only sensors that are currently faulted are displayed. Selecting "All" (sensors) allows you to bypass sensors that are currently not open or faulted.

Choose any sensors that you want to bypass before arming. To see non-faulted sensors, select "All". Put a check next to each sensor you wish to bypass, then arm.

Exit Sounds lets you silence the countdown beeps during exit delay. This is a toggle option. If Exit Sounds On is displayed, tapping the icon changes it to Exit Sounds Off. Tapping it again turns Exit Sounds back on.

Toggle off Exit Sounds on the IQ Panel 5 to prevent the panel from beeping throughout the Exit Delay countdown. By default, there is no Exit Delay when arming Stay, so this setting makes no difference when arming in that mode unless you disable

Entry Delay toggles whether the panel gives you time to disarm after opening a delay door. These settings apply only to the current arming session. An example of when you might turn off Entry Delay is when you go on vacation and know that no one should be entering the home while you are gone. Just remember to disarm before opening the door upon your return.

The Entry Delay toggle allows you to disable (when set to Off) the Entry Delay period once the system is armed. When Entry Delay is set to Off, even doors that are programmed to provide a delay will cause an immediate alarm when opened.

Auto Stay Feature

The IQ Panel 5 includes an Auto Stay feature that automatically switches from Away mode to Stay mode if no entry/exit door is opened during the exit delay. This prevents false alarms if you arm the system in Away mode but remain inside. Auto Stay is enabled by default and can be toggled in Settings > Advanced Settings > Security and Arming.

If Secure Arming is enabled in your panel settings, you will need to enter a valid user code before the system arms. The default Master Code is 1234. You can add additional user codes through Settings > Advanced Settings > User Management.

Arming your Qolsys IQ Panel 5 in Stay mode provides perimeter protection while you remain inside your home.
