How Do I Change a Master Code on a Honeywell System If I Only Have a Tuxedo Keypad?

You can change a Master Code on a Honeywell System if you only have a Tuxedo Keypad by using the Console Mode on the keypad. By using the device's Console Mode, you can change the Master Code across the entire Honeywell VISTA System, as opposed to just the Tuxedo Touch WIFI Keypad.

Please note that using Console Mode is not the only way to change the Master Code for a Honeywell VISTA System. There are two other methods that can be used as well. One alternative way is through the Total Connect 2.0 service. From Total Connect 2.0, access the Users tab. Then select the Master User. You can then edit the Master Code from this screen. Remember to press "Save" when you are finished.

If you don't have TC2, you can also adjust the Master Code through the Users Menu. The Users Menu is covered starting on page 28 of the Honeywell Tuxedo Touch User Manual. But we do not advise users to change the Master Code in this way. This is due to the fact that it will not change the Master Code across the entire VISTA System. This can present problems if an additional keypad is ever added to the system later. However, a user will not experience this issue by using Console Mode to change the Master Code.

By using Console Mode, you are essentially performing the same actions on your Tuxedo Touch as if it were a standard alphanumeric push-button keypad. Please note that the process is the same across both the Tuxedo Touch WIFI and the standard Tuxedo Touch Keypad. If you would like to change your system's Master Code using the Console Mode of a Tuxedo Touch Keypad complete the following steps:

1. Access Console Mode. Start from the main screen of the Tuxedo Touch Keypad. Choose Security > More Choices > Console Mode. The keypad will enter its Console Mode.

2. Adjust the code. Please be aware that the Master Code on a VISTA System is always represented through Slot 02. Enter the following command to change the Master Code: [Current Master Code] + [8] + [02] + [New Master Code] + [New Master Code Again]. The Tuxedo Touch WIFI Keypad will beep to confirm that the code has been changed.

3. Return to home screen. Click the picture of the house in the upper-left corner of the screen. You will exit Console Mode and return to the home screen. Any changes that were made will be automatically saved.
