How Do I Change the Installer Code on the IQ5 Hub System?

To change the Installer Code on the IQ5 Hub, swipe down, touch Settings, touch Advanced Settings, and enter the current Installer Code (1111 by default). Touch User Management. Find the Installer code entry, touch the pencil icon to the right of it, and update the code on the edit screen.

Before You Change the Installer Code

The IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) ships with a default Installer Code of 1111. The Installer Code protects access to sensor programming, arming configuration, WIFI settings, and other installer-level menus. Because the default is publicly documented, changing it after installation is essential to protect your security system from unauthorized changes.

You need the current Installer Code to change it. If it has already been changed from 1111, get it from whoever originally programmed the panel. Choose a new code that is not a simple sequence and does not match any other code on the panel.

Steps to Change the Installer Code

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and touch Settings. The Settings page opens.

2. Touch Advanced Settings and enter the current Installer Code (1111 by default). The Advanced Settings menu opens.

3. Touch User Management. The User Management page opens showing all code types — Master, User, and Installer — each with a pencil icon to the right.

4. Touch the pencil icon to the right of the Installer entry. The edit screen opens where you can change the Installer Code and its name.

5. Enter the new Installer Code and touch Save. The panel saves the new Installer Code immediately. The old code is no longer active.

After Changing the Installer Code

Store the new Installer Code securely. It is required whenever sensors need to be added or edited, arming behavior adjusted, or system tests run. If the code is lost, the panel will need a factory reset, erasing all programmed sensors and settings. Consider adding professional monitoring and home automation devices as next steps after securing your access codes.
