How Do I Clear Messages From the IQ5 Hub Message Center?
To clear messages from the Qolsys IQ5 Hub Message Center, touch the message icon in the upper right corner of the home screen, select the message you want to remove, and touch OK. You can also clear all messages at once by touching the Acknowledge All option at the top of your screen.
The Qolsys IQ5 Hub Message Center provides a centralized location for viewing system alerts, alarms, provider messages, and contact information. The Message Center icon appears as an envelope in the upper right corner of the home screen and displays a red badge when new messages are available. Keeping your Message Center clear of old notifications helps you identify new alerts quickly and ensures efficient operation of your IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE.
Steps to Clear Individual Messages
-
Tap the envelope. Locate the message icon in the upper right corner of the IQ5 Hub home screen. If there are messages to be cleared, the envelope icon will have a red badge with a number indicating the number of unacknowledged messages or alerts. Once you tap the envelope icon, the Message Center opens showing four buttons across the top of the screen: Contact Us, Video Tutorials, Alerts/Alarms, and Messages.
- Contact Us - This tab contains information on how to contact your alarm dealer, including phone number, email, and web URL. The information contained here may differ depending on the information your alarm dealer provides through Alarm.com.
- Video Tutorials - This section contains videos instructing you on various aspects of using your IQ5 Hub. Tutorials include Arming, Disarming, Connecting to WIFI, and more.
- Alerts/Alarms - In this section, you'll see all security system alerts, including alarms, trouble conditions, and any other system related notifications.
- Messages - This area contains messages from your alarm dealer or Alarm.com. A mandatory, automatic system firmware update is one type of message you might see here.
- Select Alerts/Alarms or Messages. If you're clearing notifications, a red badge icon will be present on one or more of the four buttons, similar to what you see on the envelope icon.
- Select a message or alert. Once you've selected the proper button, tap the circle to the left of the message or alert you want to acknowledge and remove. A checkmark appears indicating the message is selected.
- Tap OK. This will remove the selected message or notification from your Message Center. The message is permanently deleted and no longer appears in the list.
Clearing All Messages at Once
If you have multiple messages to clear, tap "Acknowledge All" at the top of the list in the Alerts/Alarms or Messages screen. Selecting this option removes all messages from that section simultaneously, once you tap OK. Use this feature after reviewing your alerts to quickly clear your Message Center. Note that "Acknowledge All" only clears messages in the currently selected screen, so you may need to repeat this step in both Alerts/Alarms and Messages if both sections contain notifications.
Common Alert Types
Your IQ5 Hub generates alerts for various system events. Low battery alerts indicate when a sensor or the panel backup battery needs to be checked and possibly replaced. Power failure alerts appear if the panel loses AC power. When this happens it automatically switches to the backup battery. Sensor trouble alerts indicate tamper or communication issues with wireless sensors or other devices. Alarm history shows past alarm events with timestamps. Reviewing and clearing these alerts regularly helps maintain good system awareness.
