How Do I Connect My iPhone to a Lyric Gateway?

Users can connect their iPhone to a Lyric Gateway with the Total Connect 2.0 or MyHome Gateway apps. Total Connect 2.0 is part of a paid monitoring plan, and gives users remote access to their system. MyHome Gateway can be downloaded for free, and connects to the Gateway using local WIFI.

To connect an iPhone to a Lyric Gateway with the MyHome Gateway app, the system must be connected to WIFI. The Gateway has an internal WIFI access point, but it’s not recommended to use after the initial WIFI setup of the system. The MyHome Gateway app must be used to connect the system to WIFI. Check out how to setup the Lyric Gateway for WIFI with the MyHome Gateway app.

The MyHome Gateway app is free to download from the iOS store. The app is highly recommended to use with the Gateway, as the system has no integrated digital display. The app can only be used to configure certain basic programming options, such as connecting the system to WIFI, setting up user codes, and activating home automation devices. The majority of system programming, including setting up security devices with the system, cannot be configured with the MyHome Gateway app. The app can only be used to connect to the Gateway with an iPhone, as long as the iPhone is on the same WIFI network as the Gateway.

To connect an iPhone to a Lyric Gateway with the Total Connect 2.0 app, the system must be monitored by an alarm company who is also a Honeywell dealer. Total Connect 2.0 connects the device running it to the Gateway via the Internet, so the Gateway must have a WIFI, ethernet, or cellular connection active on the system. Total Connect 2.0 is normally part of a paid monitoring account. Your alarm company can setup Total Connect 2.0 when your system gets activated for monitoring.

To connect your iPhone to a Lyric Gateway:

  1. Connect the system to WIFI. Using the MyHome Gateway app, connect the Lyric Gateway to a WIFI network. If the system is using cellular only, simply power up the Gateway. If the system is using ethernet, make sure that it’s plugged into an active ethernet network.
  2. Contact your monitoring company. After selecting the plan that's appropriate for the system, let your monitoring company know that you are ready to get activated. They will remotely access the system through its WIFI, ethernet, or cellular connection.
  3. Setup Total Connect 2.0 and other system options. After your system is activated with your alarm company, they can guide you through setting up Total Connect 2.0, if it’s part of the monitoring plan selected. After this process, let your alarm company know what name you would like for your security devices, and if there is anything else they can do for you. They will have access to all of the system's programming, and should be able to help you with any requests.
