How Do I Power Down My 2GIG Edge Security System?

You can power down your 2GIG Edge by opening the panel, disconnecting its backup battery, and dropping AC power by either unplugging its transformer, or by turning off power at the circuit breaker. You can also drop AC power by disconnecting the barrel plug from DC IN if an LT-Cable is used.

Some reasons why you may power down the 2GIG Edge Security System include putting the panel into long-term storage, making hardware changes to the system, rebooting the panel as a troubleshooting step, or even rebooting the panel to force a system update from Alarm.com. When you go to power the system back on, connect the backup battery first, and then AC power second.

Complete the following steps to power down your 2GIG Edge Security System:

1. Open the panel. Make sure the top and bottom set screws on the 2GIG Edge Panel are loosened before trying to open. If you have the system mounted on the wall, then you can open up the panel by gripping the bottom portion of the panel, and pulling away from the wall. You can then lift the upper portion of the panel off the backplate to gain access to the inside. Use the third hand to hang the front of the panel from the mounting plate. This will allow you to keep both hands free. If you have the panel loose and not mounted, then you can pry off the back cover using a screwdriver or other thin object.

2. Disconnect the backup battery. With the panel open, locate the backup battery just below the small terminal block where AC power is supplied to the system. Unplug the battery connector from the port to disconnect the backup battery.

3. Drop panel AC power. You can drop AC power to the panel by either unplugging its transformer from the outlet or by turning off power at the circuit breaker. Alternatively, if you are using a Honeywell LT-Cable to power the panel, then you can either unplug its barrel connector or unplug the connector from the DC IN barrel port on the 2GIG Edge. The system will power down completely after both battery backup power and AC power have been removed. If you are making panel hardware changes, then it is now safe to apply them.

4. Power panel back on. When you are ready to power the 2GIG Edge System back on, reconnect the backup battery first. Then restore AC power by plugging the transformer back into the outlet, turning on power at the circuit breaker, or by reconnecting the LT-Cable barrel connector ends. The system will power back on when AC power is restored.
