How Do I Run a Daughter Cards Test on the IQ5 NS System?

To run a Daughter Cards Test on the IQ5 NS, open the IQ Installer app on your mobile device and connect to the panel. Navigate to Tests, then select Daughter Cards Test. Touch Run next to each installed card to test it individually. The app returns a Pass or Fail result for each card.

What Are Daughter Cards

The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) is a screenless security system panel that supports up to three optional expansion modules called daughter cards. These add support for legacy wireless sensor frequencies: Honeywell/2GIG 345 MHz, Qolsys/Interlogix 319.5 MHz, and Legacy DSC 433 MHz. The Daughter Cards Test verifies that any installed cards are communicating correctly with the panel and is run through the IQ Installer app.

Run this test after installing a new daughter card, after servicing the panel, or any time you suspect a card may have failed. Only installed cards appear in the test — empty slots do not show up on the page. If a card fails, check the physical connection, reboot the panel, and rerun the test.

Steps to Run the Daughter Cards Test

1. Open the IQ Installer app and connect to the IQ5 NS panel. The Configuration menu opens in the app.

What to Do If a Card Fails

If a daughter card returns a Fail result on the IQ5 NS, power down the panel using the IQ Installer app under Configuration, then Power Down, or press the power button twice within 3 seconds. Remove the panel from its mount and reseat the daughter card firmly in its slot. Remount, reconnect power, and rerun the Daughter Cards Test. If the card continues to fail after reseating, it may need to be replaced. Contact Alarm Grid for support. Add a monitoring plan to ensure full coverage while troubleshooting any hardware issues.
