How Do I Run the Upgrade Service Test on the IQ5 Hub System?

To run the Upgrade Service test on the IQ5 Hub, swipe down and touch Settings, then Advanced Settings, and enter your Installer Code. Next, touch System Tests, then Panel Test, and select Run right next to the Upgrade Service test to check the panel can reach the update servers from here.

About the Upgrade Service Test

The IQ5 Hub (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) does not have a standalone update test. The check is an item called Upgrade Service inside the Panel Test, and it confirms the panel can reach the manufacturer's update servers to receive software updates. This is worth running if a software update does not seem to be arriving, since it tells you whether your security system can actually connect out to pull new software.

The Panel Test runs the panel's built-in checks either one at a time or all at once. Select Run beside the single Upgrade Service item to test just the update connection, which is the quickest option here. Running every test with Run All is more thorough but will sound the siren, so for an update-only check, use the individual Run.

Before You Begin

The Panel Test is in System Tests, which requires the Installer Code (1111 by default) or Dealer Code (2222 by default). The steps below use the Installer Code. The panel needs an active internet connection to pass this test, so confirm it is online first. Choosing Run All rather than the individual Upgrade Service test will sound the siren as part of the full test.

Run the Upgrade Service Test

  1. Swipe down and touch Settings. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Settings Tray, then touch SETTINGS.

  2. Touch Advanced Settings and enter your Installer Code. Touch ADVANCED SETTINGS, then enter your Installer Code (1111 by default). The Dealer Code (2222) works here too. The panel advances automatically after a valid code.

  4. Run the Upgrade Service test. Find the Upgrade Service item in the Panel Test list and select Run next to it. Choosing this single item tests only the update connection, without sounding the siren.

Select Run next to the Upgrade Service test.
  5. Read the result. Wait for the test to finish and check the pass or fail result on screen. A pass means the panel can reach the update servers; a fail points to an internet or WIFI connection issue to troubleshoot.

Tips

If the Upgrade Service test fails, the cause is almost always connectivity, so verify the panel's internet and WIFI connections and confirm your router has working internet, then repeat the test. Once it passes, the panel can download and install software on its own. To confirm what version is currently installed, see our guide on how to see the software version on the IQ5 Hub.

Running the Upgrade Service test on the IQ5 Hub confirms your panel can reach the servers it needs to stay up to date.
