How Do I Turn Off Panel Voices on the IQ Panel 5 System?
To turn off the voices on the IQ Panel 5, swipe down and touch Settings, then Advanced Settings, and enter your Installer Code. Next, touch Sound, then open Voice Settings, and turn off the Voices toggle to silence all the spoken prompts, or turn off just the Panel voices toggle instead.
About the Panel's Voices
The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) speaks aloud for many events, announcing things like sensors opening, arming and disarming, and automation activity. Some people find this helpful, while others prefer a quieter panel. The voices are controlled in the Sound menu, where you can silence everything at once or turn off only the specific voices you do not want on your security system.
The global Voices toggle is the master switch; turning it off stops the panel from speaking for sensors, panel messages, activity monitoring, and Z-Wave devices all at once. If you only want to quiet some of it, individual toggles for Sensors, Panel, and Activity Monitoring let you keep the announcements you like while turning off the rest. This is separate from the chime, which you can adjust on its own; see our guide on how to turn off the chime on the IQ Panel 5.
Before You Begin
The Sound menu is in Advanced Settings, which uses the Installer Code (1111 by default) or Dealer Code (2222 by default). Decide first whether you want the panel completely silent, in which case you turn off the global Voices toggle, or whether you only want to quiet certain announcements using the individual toggles below it.

Tips
Turning off the voices does not affect your alarm siren, so the panel will still sound loudly during an actual alarm even with voices disabled. If the talking is only sometimes too much, you can also lower the panel's voice volume instead of turning voices off entirely; see our guide on how to change the volume and sound on the IQ Panel 5. The Panel toggle specifically silences the panel's own spoken messages, which is the one to use if the arming and status announcements are what you want to quiet.
Turning off the panel voices on the IQ Panel 5 gives you a quieter system while keeping your alarm protection fully intact.
