How Do I Change the Volume and Sound on the IQ Panel 5?

To change the volume on the IQ Panel 5, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the settings tray. The volume slider appears at the top of the tray. Slide it left to decrease the volume or right to increase it. For more detailed sound options, navigate to the Advanced Settings menu.

The IQ Panel 5 (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) offers two ways to adjust the volume. The quickest method is the volume slider in the settings tray, which controls the overall panel voice volume. For more granular control over individual sound categories, the Sound menu in Advanced Settings lets you fine-tune voice prompts, chime volumes, media volume, and doorbell volume using separate sliders.

Before You Begin

Before adjusting the volume, make sure your IQ Panel 5 is powered on and displaying the home screen. The system does not need to be disarmed to change the volume from the settings tray. However, accessing the full Sound menu through Advanced Settings requires the Master code (1234 by default) or Installer code (1111 by default). If your security system is wall-mounted in a hallway or living area, finding the right volume level helps ensure you hear important alerts from PowerG sensors without the panel being too loud during everyday use.

Quick Volume Adjustment from the Settings Tray

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen. Tap the gray bar at the top of the screen to open the main panel menu. The settings tray slides open, revealing quick-access controls including the volume slider, brightness slider, and shortcut icons. The volume slider is the top horizontal bar with a speaker icon on the left side. This is the fastest way to adjust volume on your IQ Panel 5 without entering any menus or codes.
  2. Slide the volume bar to the desired level. Drag the circle on the volume slider to the left to lower the volume or to the right to increase it. The panel plays a brief tone at the new level so you can hear the change immediately. Moving the slider all the way to the left mutes the panel voice entirely, while sliding it fully to the right sets maximum volume. This slider controls the general voice volume for announcements like "disarmed" and "armed stay."
  3. Swipe up or touch the home screen to close the settings tray. The volume change takes effect immediately and persists through reboots. If you need to adjust more specific sound categories, continue to the steps below for accessing the full Sound menu.

Adjusting Individual Volume Categories

  1. Open the main menu. Tap the gray bar at the top of the screen to open the panel's main menu.
  2. Tap Settings. The Settings page opens, displaying options for Display, Temperature, Status, and other system controls. From the Settings page you will access the Advanced Settings page where the detailed Sound menu lives.
  3. Touch Advanced Settings. A keypad appears asking for your code. Enter the Master Code (1234 by default) or the Installer Code (1111 by default). The Advanced Settings menu opens with options including Sound, User Management, System Tests, and more.
  4. Tap Sound. The Sound menu opens with the option for Volume at the top of the available options. Tapping the down arrow to the right presents you with individual volume sliders for Voice, Beeps and Chimes, Media, and Doorbell. Each slider controls a different audio category on your IQ Panel 5. The Voice slider adjusts spoken announcements like sensor names and system status. The Beeps and Chimes slider controls entry and exit tones as well as sensor chimes. Media controls the volume for help videos, and Doorbell adjusts the doorbell chime level.

Tips

The settings tray volume slider is the fastest way to make a quick overall volume change, while the Sound menu in Advanced Settings gives you full control over individual audio categories. If you use your IQ Panel 5 as part of a home automation setup with Z-Wave and other devices, the panel will announce automation device status changes at the Voice volume level. You can also enable or disable individual voice prompts for sensors and Alarm.com controlled devices within the Sound menu by tapping Edit Chimes.

Alarm siren sounding during alarm events is controlled separately under the Siren and Alarms section in Advanced Settings and is not affected by these volume sliders. The Siren and Alarms section is only accessible using the Installer Code (1111 by default) or Dealer Code (2222 by default).
