How Do I View Devices Connected to the IQ5 NS Access Point?

The IQ5 NS does not have an AP Connected Devices page, and its manual lists no list of devices on the access point. The IQ Panel 5 and IQ5 Hub show each connected device with its IP address, MAC address, and how long it has been connected to the panel. The IQ5 NS has Access Point Options.

Does the IQ5 NS Show Connected Devices

The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) does not have an AP Connected Devices page. On the IQ Panel 5 and IQ5 Hub, that page lists every WIFI client connected to the access point, with its IP address, MAC address, and connected duration. The IQ5 NS manual lists no such page.

That means there is no list of connected devices to view on the system.

What the IQ5 NS Offers Instead

The IQ5 NS has Access Point Options in the WIFI Devices menu of the IQ Installer app. The manual lists three controls there. You can enable or disable the panel access point, change the SSID name that other devices use to connect, and see the access point password in use. These options let you manage the access point even though the system does not list the devices that joined it.

Keeping Track of Devices on the IQ5 NS

Because the system has no connected devices list, keep your own record of the devices you set up on its access point, such as a phone running the IQ Installer app. If you suspect an unknown device has joined, change the access point password in Access Point Options so only devices with the new password can connect. This keeps your security system access under your control.

What the Page Shows on Other Panels

On the IQ Panel 5 and IQ5 Hub, the AP Connected Devices page is a read-only list. It shows the IP address, the MAC address, and how long each device has been connected. Installers use it to confirm a new device joined and to identify devices by MAC address.

If You Want the Connected Devices List

If you want to see which devices are on the access point, the IQ Panel 5 and IQ5 Hub both include the AP Connected Devices page. All panels in this family share the same core security features, so the choice comes down to whether you want a display and the extra tools that come with it.

How the Panels Differ

The IQ5 NS is managed through the IQ Installer app and has no display. It leaves out features that depend on an on-panel screen or that the manual does not list, while keeping the same core detection, arming, and reporting. For most homes the difference does not matter, because the access point is only used for local setup.

What the Access Point Is Used For on the IQ5 NS

The panel access point gives nearby devices a way to connect to the IQ5 NS directly, without a home network in between. The IQ Installer app connects to the panel access point for local programming, and IQ Remote secondary displays can connect to either your home network or the panel's built-in access point. Because those are the devices most likely to join, the access point stays quiet most of the time.

Checking That a Device Connected

Without a connected devices list, you confirm a connection by what the device does. When you pair a phone with the IQ Installer app, the Status LED turns solid blue while the panel is in IQ Installer pairing mode, and the app moves on to the Installer Code step once it connects. If an IQ Remote does not appear to connect, check the SSID and access point password in Access Point Options and try again.

Planning Your Setup

If you will connect several devices to the access point, such as more than one IQ Remote, a panel with a connected devices list makes troubleshooting easier. If you only use the access point for occasional programming with the IQ Installer app, the options on the system cover what you need.

The IQ5 NS does not list devices connected to its access point, but the IQ Panel 5 and IQ5 Hub include an AP Connected Devices page on the IQ5 NS.
