How do you add a 5828 keypad to a LYNX Touch?

In order to add a Honeywell 5828 alarm keypad to a LYNX Touch security system (the L5000 or L5100) you must set the House ID in both the LYNX alarm control panel and the 5828 keypad.

Programming the House ID of the Honeywell 5828:
Press and hold the [1] & [3] keys for five seconds to enter programming mode and the display will alternately flash “00” and “- -“. Press [1] and the 5828 will alternately flash “t1” and the 2-digit house ID code. Enter a 2-digit house code between 01-31 and press [*] to advance to the next menu. Press [2] for the “t2” step, and enter a (2) for LYNX mode. At this point, you can continue with the other 5828 programming menus or you can exit programming mode by pressing [*] repeatedly, or waiting 15 seconds for the mode to time-out. Now the House ID in the 5828 is set and it is ready to be used with your LYNX Touch.

Programming the House ID of the Honeywell LYNX Touch:
At the Home screen, select “More” and then press the “Tools” button. Enter your installer code (default is 4112). Select the “System Type” menu, and then choose “RF House Code.” Enter the same house code that you programmed into the 5828 keypad, and then press done. You have now successfully programmed the House ID of the LYNX Touch and you can now use your 5828 keypad to control the security system.

It sounds like you may be having a conflict between installer code and master code. The installer code gets you to the Program screen while the master code gets you to the Users screen. Many DIYers don't realize there is a separate master code. If you press More > Tools and enter 1234 and it shows you the Users screen, then you have never changed the default master code and you have been using the installer code instead. You should then set the installer code back to default 4112 (or change it to some other code) and then you should change the master code to the one you have been using. Once you have done this, you shouldn't have the disarming issues. If this isn't what's happening, we'd need some more information to help. You can feel free to call us next week for assistance if you'd like.
I can't disarm my Honeywell Lynx 5100 with my Honeywell 5828 if I arm it at the Lynx or with the Key fob. I can arm and disarm the alarm at the 5828 panel. Do I have something set wrong?. I have the house code set the same. Thank you.
