How Many Wireless Zones Are On an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5?

There are 40 wireless zones on an Interlogix Simon XTi or XTi-5. Of these zones, 38 of them must be wireless. The other two remaining zones can support either wireless or hardwired sensors. These panels are designed to support wireless sensors that operate at a frequency of 319.5 MHz.

Both the Interlogix Simon XTi and the XTi-5 are wireless all-in-one alarm systems that come included with an integrated wireless receiver. This wireless receiver is used for communicating with wireless sensors. Each sensor that is programmed with the system is assigned its own unique zone. Each zone is assigned a Sensor Number for identification purposes. The zone is also assigned a Sensor Group to determine what type of action the system will take when the sensor is activated.

A new wireless sensor is enrolled with a Simon XTi or XTi-5 Panel through its System Programming Menu. In order to access this menu, the Installer Code for the system is required. By default, this code is set to 4321. Within System Programming, there is a sub-menu for sensors. This sub-menu includes an option for new sensors to be auto-enrolled with the system. With the panel in its learn mode, simply activate the tamper switch on the sensor. The sensor will be automatically learned-in with system, assuming that there is an available zone on the system.

From there, any of its settings and configurations can be adjusted as needed. By default the sensor will be assigned the first available Sensor Number on the system. However, this number can be changed if desired. This is also where the Sensor Group and Sensor Name for the device are assigned. For more on Sensor Groups, see pages 4 - 6 in the Interlogix Simon XTi Installation Manual. With regard to Sensor Groups, the manuals for the Simon XTi and XTi-5 are identical. The Sensor Name is useful for quickly identifying the sensor whenever it is activated. A product code can also be assigned, but this is optional. Pressing the "Close" button in the upper-right corner of the screen will exit and save any changes that were made.
