Is the 2GIG GC Touch Panel Compatible With All 2GIG Sensors?
No, the 2GIG GC Touch is compatible with 345MHz wireless sensors, including both standard unencrypted 2GIG sensors and the newer eSeries encrypted sensors. It can also support many legacy Honeywell 345 MHz sensors. However, it does not support the 2GIG E+ Series 900 MHz long range sensors.
Compatible Sensor Types
The 2GIG GC Touch (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE versions) includes a built-in 345MHz receiver. This allows it to communicate with the full range of standard 2GIG 345MHz sensors, such as door/window contacts, motion detectors, smoke detectors, glass break sensors, key fobs, and panic buttons. If you already own 2GIG sensors from a previous system like the GC2, GC3, or Edge panel, those sensors will work with the GC Touch.
The panel also supports the newer 2GIG eSeries encrypted sensors and the 2GIG 345S lineup. The 345S sensors allow you to choose either encrypted or unencrypted signals. When enrolling a sensor, you can select the Sensor Class as either "eSeries Sensor (encrypted)" or "Unencrypted Sensor" in the zone configuration. The eSeries sensors provide enhanced security through encrypted communication, which helps prevent signal interception or spoofing. Both sensor types can be mixed within the same system.
Sensors That Are NOT Compatible
The GC Touch supports many older Honeywell 5800 series sensors. However, newer variations with a model number that ends in V, such as the 5800COV, are not compatible. The 5800COMBO smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide detector, which was replaced by the 5800CMBOV, is also not compatible. In addition, any bi-directional 5800 series device, such as the 5828 wireless keypad, is not supported.
The GC Touch is also not compatible with 2GIG E+ Series sensors that operate on the 900 MHz frequency. These extended range sensors, including devices like the 2GIG PIR1E-900 motion detector, use a different wireless protocol that the GC Touch cannot recognize. Only 345 MHz sensors, including standard and eSeries models, can be used with this panel.
The panel is also not compatible with sensors from other manufacturers that use proprietary wireless protocols, such as DSC PowerG sensors, Qolsys S-Line sensors, Interlogix sensors, or Resideo PROSIX sensors. Each of these sensor families uses different frequencies and communication methods that are not supported by the GC Touch.
Checking Sensor Compatibility
To determine if a sensor will work with your GC Touch, look for "345" in the model number, which indicates it uses the 345MHz frequency. For example, the 2GIG-DW10-345 door/window sensor and the 2GIG-PIR1-345 motion detector are both compatible. Sensors with "e" in the model number, such as 2GIG-DW10e-345, which has been replaced by the 2GIG DW100-345, are eSeries encrypted versions that are also fully supported.
It is important not to confuse 2GIG eSeries sensors with 2GIG E+ sensors. eSeries sensors operate on the 345 MHz frequency and are fully compatible with the GC Touch, offering encrypted communication for added security. E+ sensors, on the other hand, use the 900 MHz frequency for encryption and extended range and are not compatible with this panel.
When adding sensors to the GC Touch, the panel's SKU/Device ID dropdown in Sensor Settings lists all supported sensor models. If your sensor does not appear in this list, it is likely not compatible. Professional monitoring services work with any properly enrolled 345MHz sensor, providing full alarm response capabilities.
The 2GIG GC Touch supports a wide range of 345MHz sensors, including both standard and eSeries encrypted models, as well as many older Honeywell 5800 series sensors. This makes it a strong option for upgrading an existing 2GIG or Honeywell system while keeping most of your current devices.
