What Does Z-Wave Diagnostics Show on the IQ5 NS?

The IQ5 NS does not have Z-Wave Diagnostics, because the map needs a display and its manual lists only Advanced Z-Wave Diagnostics, marked as reserved for future use. The IQ Panel 5 and IQ5 Hub show a graphical Z-Wave network map. Use Neighbor Info instead. Counters and Neighbor Info work.

Does the IQ5 NS Have Z-Wave Diagnostics

The IQ5 NS (available in AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE) does not have the Z-Wave Diagnostics map. On the IQ Panel 5 and IQ5 Hub, Z-Wave Diagnostics shows a graphical map of the installed Z-Wave network, and the IQ5 NS has no display to draw a map on. The IQ5 NS manual lists no Z-Wave Diagnostics test. It lists only Advanced Z-Wave Diagnostics, which it marks as reserved for future use.

That means there is no network map to open on the system.

What the Map Shows on Other Panels

On the IQ Panel 5 and IQ5 Hub, the map shows the panel and each Z-Wave device, with lines between them that show how they communicate. A Key chart explains which devices are repeating nodes, which have a strong or weaker signal, and which need to move. It also shows the last known working route for the network or for one device.

Z-Wave Tests You Can Use on the IQ5 NS

The IQ5 NS has other Z-Wave tests in the IQ Installer app. Rediscover Network refreshes the network, Neighbor Info shows which devices each device can reach, and Counters shows how many commands passed or failed. Counters track commands that succeeded with or without the automatic route and commands that failed because the network was busy, not idle, or had no route. Use them to find an unreliable device on your security system.

What the Counters Tell You

A failed command because the network is busy means the Z-Wave network was jammed at that moment. A failed command because there is no route means no successful path exists to that device. A command that succeeded without the automatic route was re-routed to get through, which can point to a weak link. Reset All sets the counters back to 0 so you can test again from a clean start.

If You Want the Network Map

If you want the visual network map, the IQ Panel 5 and IQ5 Hub both include Z-Wave Diagnostics. All panels in this family share the same core features, so the choice comes down to whether you want a display that can show it.

How the Panels Differ

The IQ5 NS is managed through the IQ Installer app and has no display. Features that draw a picture on the panel are not part of this model. The Z-Wave tests that work with numbers and lists, such as Neighbor Info and Counters, are available instead, and they cover the same job of finding a problem device.

The IQ5 NS does not have the Z-Wave Diagnostics map, but its other Z-Wave tests help you find an unreliable device on the IQ5 NS.
