What Is a Honeywell IS2535?
A Honeywell IS2535 is a hardwired motion sensor that uses PIR technology to detect the presence of motion. The sensor is known for its adjustable pet immunity feature that can be set to accommodate small animals weighing up to 40 pounds or up to 80 pounds. A red LED light is for testing.
Every person and object gives off a small amount of infrared (IR) energy. The Honeywell IS2535 works by detecting the change in IR energy that occurs when a new person or object comes in the sensor's field of view. Once the sensor detects this change, it will alert the security system. Since the Honeywell IS2535 is a hardwired sensor, it is most commonly used with hardwired systems. This includes those from the Honeywell VISTA Series. The sensor connects with the system using a 4-wire connection. Two wires are for data, and the other two are for power. The device has a coverage area of 35 feet by 40 feet. Make sure to Walk Test the sensor after installing.
Pet-owners will appreciate the device's pet immunity feature. This feature allows the sensor to detect any human intruder walking upright, while ignoring a small anime moving close to the ground. Adjustable DIP switches inside the sensor allow the user to set the pet immunity for up to 40 pounds or up to 80 pounds. In order for this feature to work correctly, the sensor must be mounted at a proper height. The recommended height is between 7.5 and 9 feet. The sensor should be mounted away from stairways or furniture that a pet could climb to get within the device's field of view. It should also be placed away from direct sunlight, ceiling fans or air ducts that could cause false alarms.
The Honeywell IS2535 has since been discontinued, and it is no longer sold on our website. If you have an existing Honeywell IS2535, then it should work just fine. If you are looking for a new wired motion sensor, then you might consider the Honeywell IS3035 instead. This sensor also offers pet immunity for small animals weighing up to 80 pounds. It also features a larger coverage area of 40 feet by 56 feet.
